Yeah and our division games are always wacky. I can't wait to see Waters out there

Yep. I mean the Bucs had that game won & yet they lost due to a really dumb penalty. The Packers had some ref gaffe in their game & the Niners scored.

We won. I'll take it!

It's the nature of forums and diehard fans.. We all want a perfect game and frankly, not complaining isn't as fun lol.

Personally, I enjoy the win but know we still have alot of work to do to get where we want to go.

I wonder if instead of Carr scoring he fell down and we ran out the clock, winning 30-24, if people would still be complaining about our defense.

I mean, instead we scored and played a prevent intended to run out the clock and won by 5. The last 80 passing yards by Eli was just stat padding.

Maybe but it wouldn't have changed the fact that the Giants could do whatever they wanted when they kept the ball..

I'm fairly new to this site. But I've spent years on other forums. For different sports from college football to the NBA as well as the Cowboys. And they are ALL the same!
Some people see only the good. Some, only the bad. But the majority will find a way to enjoy the wins while worrying about the issues.
Such as the fact this team still shoots itself in the foot too many times. Whether its a holding call or a false start that kills a possible long drive. Or running a route 1 yard short of a first down. And believe me. I was absolutely melting down when it went from a 17 point to a 6 point lead. How could a fan that has watched this team find a way to lose so many winnable games the last few years. NOT have melted down just a little during the final few minutes! But hell yeah I enjoyed that win.......

We stopped them quite a few times. Our offense did fail to put them away on a couple occasions.

Safety play and Dline depth are concerns right now, especially against an elite passing offense. Don't get me wrong there ar opportunities to get better over the course of the year. Same deal for the O, but Waters may mitigate our run blocking issues.

We're 1-0 and look as if we will be a playoff contender. For that I am happy right now

This is why a lot of old regulars quit posting here. We suck when we lose we suck worse when we win

Every Cowboys site I've ever been to and been a member of (about 6-7) there seems to be people who make this comment. My question is why don't all those guys, from all those different sites, get together and have one big happy family Cowboys club.....Their world would be so much more happy and full of sunshine.

Dont trip man. Its the nature of the beast. Most of the guys who say absurd things like "I expect more from my team" or "Im not impressed" are just people who.... Well, just imagine their real life and social skills. If they demanded as much from themself as they do the team they would probably be in a much better place.
Helen Keller could see there is a ton of room for improvment and to compete with the really good teams there are going to have to be some significant strides made. I hate biting my fingernails off in the 4th after having had 5 turnovers. However, for me to sit here and cry like some of these guys here do would be a waste of time. I look for the coaching staff to make the adjustments while I speculate how good this team could be when the obvious flaws are addressed. There is, in my opinion, more positive to take away from this game with the primary goal of a win being had.
When I first started coming to these Cowboy sites all these negative crybabies or grumpy old men would ruffle me beyond belief. I even have atleast a page worth of quotes about how Dez Bryant is an absolte bust. Just ignore them and their depressing take on the team that they "support" while laughing at them as you scroll right past the fantastic insight they bless this place with.
1-0 Baby!!!!!

For me, it was a very long wait for this first game of the season and I thoroughly enjoyed the game. Yes there were some mistakes but come on, there is no perfect team and there is no perfect player. This game isn't just about which team makes more plays but is also about which team makes less mistakes as well. Obviously we made less mistakes and made some key plays and end result is a win.

I subscribe to the OP's thoughts. Lots of little things that on a micro level I didn't love, however you can never be unhappy about a win, especially against a division opponent

Sorry, when this team shows they can get six turnovers and score at least 30 points off that and bury the other team, then I will see a Dallas team that can be competitive and vy for a play-off spot with a chance to make some noise.

I don't consider six turnovers that represented a five point differential to be something to rejoice about.

I think if it were against any other team the Cowboys would have dusted them, but Eli and the Giants know how to play is Better than any other team. Eli knows how to break down this defense like no other; and if I'm not mistaken I thought this defense Was expected to give up yards by the bunches just create turnovers more frequently, mission accomplished I think.

It was a tough win against a division rival. They made the mistakes and we got the win and that's nice to see for a change. You'd think that would make people happy about the win.

Because there is no such thing as a perfect site. I have run several forum sites over the years, and there have always been people who think the current site "is going downhill". Even if you create a new site and it seems like a perfect utopia, it will be short lived. The best sites focus on balance, rather than a single ideology. Creating a positive-only site leads to boring discussions once the newness wears off (how many times do you need to hear "Great post!" in that environment before it no longer matters?) and creating a hater-focused site leads to personal attacks and lack of quality discussions. The reason CZ has survived so long with so much traffic is that we have a great staff who all believe in striking a balance between the homers and haters. Sometimes the site starts leaning too hard one way and the staff starts cracking down on that side to bring it back.

Do I wish CowboysZone was mostly positive all of the time? Absolutely! But it is hard to ignore the lack of the Cowboys post-season success over the last 17 years. I'm ready to watch the Cowboys in late January and February again! Now, I'm not negative like some fans who seem more worried about being right about the players, coaches, owner, etc. they hate doing poorly rather than hoping we do well with what we have. Time sorts out everything and bad players, coaches, etc. will eventually be replaced if they don't produce.

In the meantime, I look at each new season as a new opportunity .. a new chance .. to have a great season. I wish more fans saved their doom-and-gloom until the end of the season when it really would be appropriate. Preaching doom-and-gloom after one game, especially one that we won against a division opponent .. in a stadium where we had never beat them at that .. just seems foolish to me.
