It is not eliminating the mistakes and being consistent in that aspect that will work against the team exceling in the postseason.
The McCarthy era in a nutshell....for years now he has preached "We will clean up the penalties and mistakes"....yet nothing ever changes. Eventually....someone needs to be held accountable. I don't care if we finish 12-5.
.....another playoff flameout because this team wasn't ready....or beat themselves with penalties....then McCarthy needs to go.

Seems like the same team every year. But I will say since MM came in that we have been a 12 win team most every year. We have to get over the hump. Our Defense looked great for a bit but 1 injury to our DT and teams run all over us.
The team was known as “Next Year’s Champions” from ‘65 to ‘71 when they finally got over the hump. It is way more difficult today than it was then. FA, the # of games and the # of playoff teams all increase the difficulty. The losses to Cleveland in the late 60s after back-to-back NFL Championship losses was tough on this young whippersnapper.

I have been a Cowboys fan since 1973 .I am and have always been a diehard Cowboys fan. This Cowboys team has as much talent as any team in the league. But this team just finds ways to beat themselves .Here is the list.Fumble at the goalline.Pollard not cutting to the pylon.Ignoring CeeDee for 2 quarters.Penalties at the worst times.Wrong Oline personnel on the field ,Chuma is not good. How can you not even look at the Defensive End.
agreed we beat ourselves. I put it on the players more than the coaches because they go over the game plan in practice every week, the coaches cannot go out on the field and stop the plays and make them doing over when they mess up, just like when Garrett was here they have to execute!!!!!

It’s funny that most on hear will continue to support the fourth round qb that never has accomplished anything in a big game. Put him in that position he will fail every time, he disappears worse than any other player we say disappears at times ie cooper. We never seem to understand that Dak will play good against crummy teams of nfc least then fall on his face in playoffs. Fact is he did sane in college as well. Did he beat lsu, Auburn yes one year and both were overrated, he then got smoked in the orange bowl game but no one ever talks about that. It actually very similar to what we see now his interceptions and losing time of possession in that led to his team losing. Regardless he’s just not a player that’s calm in the big games, he’s doesn’t have the nerves to overcome those situations.

Fans usually expect their team to win every game and when their favorite team loses, it can’t be because the other team just made a few more plays than their team did. They can’t believe that it’s even possible that the other team is good too and has good coaches and good players.

I always laugh how many times when a play works fans say, “Great call”, and when a play is a disaster, it’s a “terrible call”. As if all plays‘ success hangs on the actual decision to run a particular play not how well the players execute the play.

Put it more succinctly- most fans can’t believe their team can play hard and still get beat. It has to be that our players and coaches just didn’t play well, or they all suck, or that the refs screwed us…..etc. etc
Something to consider. The 49ers and Eagles both had 3 game losing streaks. Are the Cowboys next? And if so what does it mean?

My biggest concern with the Cowboys is not the loss of 2 games against two good teams on the road. My concern is the offense disappears on the road. I don't know why. But it seems like it will be important during the playoffs.

It is a week to week league, if we played Miami or Buffalo or even the niners 5 weeks in a row every game would probably be very diferent from week to week... we have found some really wierd ways to shoot ourselves in the foot on these road games though this year.
