All phases of our game was improved.
Yes, the blocked punt, it hurt and it sucked. But lets give the Jets and D-Coord credit.
The offense showed what I can really be. We cannot be too bummed that we didnt fire on all cylinders right away in game 1.
The defense. This has been a tough view for me. I thought they did great in tackling and limiting YAC. BUT we still were playing the Jets, not an offensive juggernaut by any means.
Nice post.ShiningStar;4113958 said:Im going to be honest, as being one of the posters who claimed the Jets would beat us, I would be pissed if I was in charge of the Jets. THe Jets bascially came into the season with their playoff team, against a team that has been revamping and that Revamped team took us to the woodshed if NOT for a few lucky favors by the football gods.
This HOWEVER does not excuse Garrett from any blame because those lucky favors are still the curses that hang over this team. Its his jobs to get rid of them, not ride with them.
Ive let it be known from day 1, i am not pleased a few coaches are still on this team, that being said, im not yet impressed with the new ones yet, but time is on their side, not the others. For Houck, its a determent.
It is Garretts job to shake these guys hands, wish them well and write a favorable letter to whomever is looking at them and saying to themselves, these guys can take our crappy team and not make one improvement what so ever. There are teams out there willing to do that.
I think its also time to accept that some players are what they are and no matter the threads, its not going to make that player any better.
I would have been thrilled if we won, tho reality is what it is and the reason no one can ever predict it is because you cant think of every factor that reality will throw at you. If you are confused about this, think about doing a picnic without watching the weather channel. You'll quickly figure it out.
I would in my heart want to hear Garrett is doing like Santa Claus and he has a list and that bad boy is going to be checked and checked a lot, because if it were up to me, the scouting department would be on notice.
The real fact of reality tho is that this team wouldnt be deteremined on week 1, but rather week 2, since both teams are almost doing the same thing. New coaches, new schemes and new ways of doing things. THis is the bar to pit this team against and see where the chips are, no point in throwing them and seeing where they land, now we have to see where they land and start moving them. WHo really is our number 2 TE, can Romo lead this team to a moral victory and will our Oline hold up are a few examples of questions that need to be answered. A lot others, but to indepth to go into in one post.
This thread is also good because its time for posters to understand if Garrett is looking for the big overhaul where hes not worried about winning all the games, but getting players involved for winning for next season and building a team instead of mish moshing it. I would like to put myself in this boat and waiting to see what happens instead of knee jerking every loss. Its going to be a wait and see what we have season, vs lets hope we get to the SB or playoffs season. If this is the case, than a lot of other questions are going to pop up. Than also id liek to get new young coaches in here instead of retreads. But Garrett might also be here for another year depending if no progress is made this season, which before you agree, is just plain silly, look at the defense. Special teams im not impressed with but Rob has already made his impact felt, i just hope Garrett catches up this week.
This week should answer more questions and leave us with a better understanding where to gauge the team than instead of a already proving playoff team. Which isnt just in the numbers, but how does the team handle most other teams, which is what makes them playoff material compared to a 10 win team that played sub par teams. I fully believe the Jets have a better team right now, I just feel Garret and Rob put the fear of God and doubt into Rex and company.

I'm going to say right now that I'm a HUGE GARRETT supporter. I love everything about the guy, he just knows how to coach, IMO. And this is coming from a guy who destroyed this guy left and right about his play calling as an offensive play-caller.
But Garrett made a ton of mistakes in this game. As dominant as he was at time, he was equally as inept. So when I say I love the guy as a coach, I also believe he can turn this in to a lesson and do amazing things from here out. Not saying he's not going to make mistakes, but not the colossal mistakes he made in this last game.
The reason I'm giving him rope is because I ALWAYS give a person a few years to develop, I only turn on them when they continue to exhibit the same ineptness year after year.
I'm too lazy to look this up, but I think Wade Wilson is still on the team? I think he needs to use Wilson more in helping to calm Romo down when we get in situations where we CAN'T afford to lose the ball, maybe he's already doing that and Romo just isn't listening, but I'd like to think that it's just not being done.ShiningStar;4114645 said:i like this and agree. I guess right now some of us see some problems but have hope he will do the right thing and make the changes. I can agree wtih that and for the sake of the Cowboys have faith in him as well.
Do i see another Landry in this, I dont know, do i wish, yes. I had hoped he would bring in an offense coordinator to at least challenge him and do the things he may not have time to do. I think the control and oversight of the coach is so time consuming you need to trust in your men but also delegate so you can work out the kinks in the armor.

Yeah, I mean think about it. Everyone of us were screaming for us to PROTECT the ball when we got down on the goal line, and when Romo got the ball back after the game was tied. We were all screaming, so if we knew this, why weren't the coaches screaming the same things in his ear while in the huddle or something? Not saying it didn't or doesn't happen, but again, I want to believe no one is telling him this because if they are telling him this and he's still doing these things, that would be devastating to the fans.ShiningStar;4114667 said:i agree with this because we all know Romo gets way to excited for the games and needs that cool down find a rhythm for the game.

Whoa whoa, not thinking about benching Romo now, let's not go overboard.ShiningStar;4114677 said:at that point you have to bench him, i know i know for who, but you have to get something threw to his head. I dont think McGee is the guy and we cant ride Kitna for long, but if Romo is not getting that aspect than we are in trouble, i would rather just blame Wilson but if you're right and you may be, than we're doomed with him.

In all your opinions, what does this make us?

FLcowboy;4116950 said:The Cowboys had as much preparation time as any team. I can understand the defense's learning curve to be steep, but they were hindered more by injuries than preparation, and, perhaps questionable roster moves. Going with limited cornerbacks in hindsight was foolhardy.
The offense played well except for two plays. It could have been a huge upset except for the two boneheaded plays.
CCBoy;4117675 said:Unless Vick gets shelved for injury, Dallas probably doesn't challenge for top of NFC East. So a second place finish here still has to be quality to make the playoffs this year.
That stated, Dallas stood toe to toe with the Jets, and if not for it's own mistakes would have beat them. Looking at the Jets today, shows they aren't a stagnant powerhouse now looking towards decline. The Cowboys earned some respect, and won't show similar types of errors during the course of this season.
The Cowboys have a different set of injured players, in comparison to the Giants, but are still pretty solid throughout...
REDVOLUTION;4117682 said:Nothing Dallas does is contingent on Vick. Come on.
CCBoy;4117695 said:No, what Philadelphia does is contingent upon Vick...and there is a huge difference. Vick does blend and bring out their talent. He is very damaging both in the run and passing game. So, he holds at least a linebacker or two in. With their receivers, that is dangerous at the best.
To underestimate an enemy is paramount to inviting failure...as Dallas still has to shore up it's secondary after they all get healthy. For the real and present. I hope the team can get that done by the time that the Cowboys do play Philadelphia.
Despite a prison conviction, Vick has proved at least his play on the field. My scorn won't keep him from being very effective in his current role...and that must be seen as well. And yes, even the Cowboys must defeat whoever it is that steps inside the ring...
REDVOLUTION;4117708 said:Vick really hasnt proven anything. Overrated.
He is a super freak athlete but not a great QB, a good one maybe. Like McNabb, just when you expect something from them they blow it.
He can play QB to a certain level - it is not a high level.
Throw zone coverage out there and he is sunk.
Philly is going to be booing him like McNabb... soon.....
