This thought is scary...

sounds like a bunch of excuses. we played horrible. regardless. we played really bad. we got arse whooped. kicked and thrown around like rag dolls. the three players in the middle were also abused. the whole team as a whole didn't play well.

what you presented is a bunch of excuses and it comes from a loser mentality.

we lost. we need to play better than that regardless. no excuses. until we beat them and win tough games like that on the road, we will not be elite.

I definitely don't have a "loser mentality". Excuses are things like "The dog ate my homework". What I stated were valid reasons which contributed to the loss. We did not play well - obviously. It's amazing how Dallas (the hottest team in the NFL at the time along with the Chargers) just collapsed out of nowhere, isn't it? Any football fan knows how important the OL is to an offense. Without it, the offense goes nowhere. When your RT is playing on 1 leg and the LT is out (replaced by a guy who had been playing RT all year), you'd better believe it has a HUGE impact on an offense's ability to move the ball! Especially when you're going against a very good D in a loud stadium. Dallas' D could have played better and the Vikes played very well. Favre was sharp and they deserved to win. But to make like some lopsided score in a playoff game tells oh-so-much about this team is nonsense. There were many reasons Dallas lost that game and injuries were PART of the whole picture and not excuses.

This team will go as far as our offensive line takes us.

Throw everything else out the window. If our offensive line plays like a Super Bowl offensive line, we will win it all not a doubt about it.

If they falter down the stretch like they have the past three seasons, we will have the same type of seasons we've had. Relatively successful, but nothing to show for it.

The only difference between this year's line and last year's line is Doug Free. So we'll see the line does and if it can stay healthy this season.

agreed.

I love those "if you make excuses your (sic) a loser" posts.

The people who make them are usually the first ones to make excuses for the other team when we win.

this team can be stopped the same way it has the last few years

  • missed blocks
  • dropped passes
  • penalties

The Bengals held that offense to 3 points after 1st and goal from the 2.

That offense will now be without its jack-of-all-trades TE for the rest of the season.

The only way this offense becomes unstoppable will be when Bryant becomes unstoppable.

Yes, but we aided them with absolutely stupid play calling.

the Indy team has some really really good offensive skilled position players. with wayne, garcon, clark, etc. and manning at the helm. they are probably the most stacked at the offensive position.

GB is scary too. they got some talent on the offensive side.

so is NO. they are stacked as well.

we got talent too. I am not saying we are bad. we are defintley top 5.
The advantage we have over all those teams is our stable of running backs. The best trio in the league. We're pretty stacked at TE also, or at least we were until Sunday night.

Let me give a generalized statement on what it will take for us to be a SB contender this year then some specific things.

Our offense failed us last year. We failed to score 25 points per game. We moved the ball well but failed to score off the opportunities. We only scored 56 points per 1000 yards gained instead of roughly 80 like the Saints. Our defense allowed less than 17 points per game and only failed to get enough TOs.

Here are the things the Dallas Cowboys must do to become elite:

1. Win the field position battle.

We have a pretty good punter. Our STs could improve but they are generally doing a pretty good job limiting returns and maximizing our own returns. TOs will have a lot more to do with this although we aren't bad now. We just need to do better and in particular have a greater positive TO margin. Much greater than a plus 2.

2. Score more points in the redzone.

We're getting there enough we just don't score enough TDs. The way to improve is a) to execute better in the RZ. One way to do that is to give Romo more time. That's on the OL. Another is b) to get better with the running game around the goalline. Another burden on the OL. (It's not the RBs although I'm anxious to see what Felix can do around the EZ). c) Stop the penalties. I expect that will happen this year although you can't blame Flo for all of that. Witten had his share of RZ false starts. Others are at fault as well. d) Make more plays in the RZ. Here is where Bryant will step in and up. I'd also like to see Bennett get some calls here, too. e) The playcalling needs to get better especially in the RZ. That's on Red Jesus. f) The kicker must make 80% of FGs and all of them in the RZ.

All very true.

Wait a minute! It just came to me.....what we have to do to win the Super Bowl if we get there. Somehow we have to find a way to..........score more points then the other team! If we can do that, I REALLY like our chances :duh:
