Henson has started 8 or 9 games since 1997. hIS Quitting football set this all back. He's nor playing because he's not ready. He can beat Bledsoe and Romo he's starting. Its that simple.

Stop blaming the world on Drew's plight. Its on him.

staubach and steve young were both 29 when named starters in their respective teams.

Roger was 27 in 69 bro, and DID see more than just cursory playing time leading up to 71 and his being named as a FT starter.

Imagine what might have been if he'd of been a 25 yr old rookie, like Henson was.

He also started his rookie year as well. Moot point.
Because of his college history. It isn't fair to compare Staubach at Navy to Henson at Michigan. It is absolutely not a moot point.

What is with all these comparisons to Rothlisberger. He isnt as good as advertised. He is in a offense where he has to throw the least amount in the NFL. He has a good line, RB's and WR's which compensates for his lack of Intangibles/Football Smarts. All he is is a Bus Driver with a strong arm. Nothing more, nothing less.

Please name another QB, in ANY decade of NFL history w/ a better W/L record at the same point in their career's then.

What bothers me about this Henson thing is this. If Parcells already knew he was gonna screw Henson over this year by not even playin him one down then why didnt he send him to NFLE last year to get some games played.

Parcells has done a horrible job with Henson and also Romo. When we were KOd from the playoffs in 04 it was more important for Parcells to let Vinny pad his stats then for Romo or Henson to get needed game time.

Same thing in 05 when we were KOd. Bledsoe plays in the last game and Romo and Henson never see a snap. When it comes to gettin a QB of the future ready Parcells might be the worse coach in the NFL for that.

As long as Parcells is here Henson will never see the field. I would hate to trade Henson cuz he has talent. But I say just trade him to a team that will give him a fair chance and he isnt wastin away on the bench as long as parcells is here.

Henson could complete 85% of his passes in NFLE and throw for 4500 yards and 50 TD passes and only 3 INTS and Parcells would not let him have a chance at competing for the job in 2006

Here's what troubles me, and isn't brought up much.

In less than 25 days Henson will be 26. So he goes to Europe, plays a what, 10 game schedule there? And lets say he plays lights out, for argument's sake.

Does anyone believe he comes back and has ANY shot at then going into TC w/ the legit chance of being the starter for then another SIXTEEN WEEK regular season, not to mention post season play.

So now he sits for yet ANOTHER year, then at 27 gets the starting job. Now, unless he's another B. Rothlesburger <sp>, he's TWENTY FREAKIN' NINE by the time he has a FULL two years exp as a starting QB, and that's only if everything goes as planned.

Just seems like a waste, that in what could be his 4th or 5th season as a starter, we could be sitting here talking about a guy who's now in the twilight of his career, and who do we replace him with.

Good post and I had never really looked at it from that angle.

The only positive I would say to this is, say we continue with your best case scenario, in that he lights it up in NFLE and sticks around until Bledsoe leaves.

He starts at 29 and becomes a solid Quarterback for 2-5 years. That would really give us enough time to draft a young guy and let him sit for 2 years.

That is the only positive I can see.

But back to earth and the real world, one has to consider injuries, Henson's contract, the possibility that he may hit it big in NFLE but struggles in the NFL.

Personally, I think this is a huge gamble and I would rather go the conventional way, draft a guy that played in college, have him sit and learn and go from there.

I dont see the need to make things so difficult...we've been there and done that already.

There isnt anyone? But if he is soo good why didnt he beat NE last year in Pitt?
He is a choker just like Peyton and Cowher...

But is there better young QB's in the game, yes. Palmer, Leftwitch, and Eli. Ben is still overrated and gets accolades for handing the ball off.

Steve Young started close to 20 games with the Bucs before being traded to the 49ers and riding the bench (and even there he got more starts than Henson or Romo). And Jim Plunkett (one of my all-time favorite non-Cowboys FWIW) had quite a bit of experience - years - before catching on with the Raiders.
