This was a golden opportunity for the Cowboys

And they came up woefully short. Other than the excitement of thinking about Zeke running behind this line, this draft was nothing but a disappointment for me. It proved once again, what I already knew. That the brass in Dallas are lost. Clueless on how to really run a franchise. No set plan what so ever. Its like they are a bunch of kids in a candy store. Supposedly Garrett said that Zeke was the player they thought could help them the most NOW!! Ok, agreed. But then they draft a kid that wont play this year and probably wont help for 3 years? They also take a QB that wont help for several years. Take a TE that was basketball player?

With the 4th pick they had a real opportunity to shore up defense and they blew it. You look at a team like the Ravens and they just have solid steady drafts. Not only taking great value players but filling needs as well.

Watching the Cowboys this weekend reminded me of fantasy football. Where once the draft order is set you look at who the two guys are that are picking once spot ahead of you and behind you. Knowing that if they are morons they will pass on the good players and they will fall to you. I couldnt help thinking that the Jaguars were laughing all draft long loving the fact of the players that kept dropping to them.

And then we have the issue that EVERYONE somehow knows what Dallas will do and they constantly get screwed because of it. People jumping in front to take our guys.

We came into this off season needing DE, corner, and backup QB as the most glaring needs we had to have on this team. And to date, through FA and the draft we haven't done anything in those areas to properly solve the problems.

And please dont tell me that 3rd and 4th round picks are going to come in and solve the issues. And dont give me this garbage that they were simply taking BPA every time and sticking to their draft boards.

In short, it is a draft that will not show immediate results. Oh, EE will become one of the top RBs this fall (if he stays healthy) but no one else should be expected to have a major impact. The pay off, if there is one, is a few years away.

For me, this if fine to some degree. I'm not all about this short term window thing. The only problem for me is that in 5 years, Zeke will be toast.

I think Collins will look real good in our DL rotation this year.

Very happy with the draft. After round 3, if you find a starter you've had an AMAZING draft. Chill out. If Jaylon and EE work out you got the two best players in the draft on both sides of the ball. It's not 2-3 years out. You'll find out THIS year if Jaylon can play. That's it.

We were a bad call away from going to the NFC Championship game in 2014. We'd already beaten Seattle handily earlier in the year with them at home. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we would have had home field against them in the playoffs. Very easily could have been us in the Super Bowl against the Patriots.

Yes, the slowest period of the offseason is here.

i'm just saying, there are 1000 threads featuring uninformed opinions on the draft and armchair GMs flexing their cheeto-eating devices. and there's a new one every half hour, saying the same stuff.

So are you saying the other 32 teams can't evaluate talent either if they are jumping in front of us to take a Player we wanted..................

There is so much wrong with this post Buddy, I don't even no what else to say. You pretty much contradicted yourself on almost every point.

So are you saying we shouldn't draft in the 3rd and 4th rounds? Just trade those pics for more 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th and 7th rounders?

You are wrong. Seattle was the top seed and Dallas was #3.

One could also say that Dallas was a bad call away from losing in the Wild Card round to Detroit. As for the GB game, if the Dez call had stood they would have gone for 2 and if successful only led by 3 points. Green Bay, against an inept Dallas pass defense, would have had the chance to drive down and tie or win. Hardly a forgone conclusion that Dallas wins with a ruling of a Dez catch.

Nope that is not what I said at all. Pretty simple. Teams know who we want and jump in front of us to take them. Which means we are VERY bad at disguising what we are doing. Make sense? NO?

We want the wrong players!
And teams jump in front of us to take the players we want!

The food there is terrible, and such small portions!

LOL..........actually, that is not a bad idea. We are SOOOOO bad at picking past the first round that we might as well trade our entire draft each year for a few big picks. I like the idea they had of taking the DE and trading back up into the 2nd round to get Smith.
