Well if Ramsey hits he will be expensive regardless at some point. Maybe not now but he will be at some point if he proves to be as good as some think he will. People complain we don't follow our board. They followed their board here. They liked Ramsey but loved Elliott. This team couldn't afford to pass up Elliott for another Mo Claiborne. And I now people will say he's a better prospect than Claiborne but the same risks with Claiborne are here as well.

Its also troubling to me that the best cornerbacks in this league for the most part are late round picks.

There are risks with both players. As you say, Claiborne but Elliot is not a sure thing. The list of failed 1st round RBs is there as well. As to the price, I understand that Ramsey's price will go up if he's good but that's the point. The price of a good CB is going to be very expensive. The price of a good RB, not nearly the same. Because of this, RB is usually a position you can get more value out of. The price we will pay to sign a good CB is going to be high, regardless of who we get. The price of a good RB, not necessarily but because of where we took Elliot, that advantage is going to go away for us so that is a difference. That will effect the cap.

Yeah but have you seen the list of failed CB's in the 1st round? I can name probably a handful or a little more of running backs that have failed as top 10 picks with Trent Richardson being the posterboy. But there are 3 or 4 cornerbacks taken every year in the 1st round and they have all flopped. That wouldn't stop me from taking Ramsey. I liked Ramsey. I liked him as a safety even though I don't think that's smart to use your #4 pick on a safety especially when you have no pass rush. But I would've been okay with that move too. But Elliott was a safer pick and i'm standing behind that as well.

There are a lot of RBs taken in the first that have not panned out. I don't know that the number of CBs is higher. I've never done the numbers so I can not say which one is higher. I will say this, it's become a lot more difficult to play CB in the modern era.

I won't judge the stinkers last year but let's go just into 2014........Justin Gilbert, Kyle Fuller, Jason Verrett, Bradley Roby, Dennard and before that in 2013 you had DJ Hayden, Dee Milliner, Desmond Trufant, Xavier Rhodes........

Some of these guys have ended up being solid pro's but he higher you get in the draft the worse they seem to get like Justin Gilbert and Dee Milliner. One injured every year and the other....just doesn't seem to get it.

And with the Peter King article that came out this morning......the thought in this thread that Jaylan was a "panic move" has been proven to be a lie and just a assumption made in this thread. They targeted him all along.

Absolutely targeted him.
It sounds like it would have been Ogbah if he was there and then Smith.

Very high risk, but VERY high potential reward too.
It helps that Dallas' own team doctor had more information than anyone else on the planet in this case.
knock on wood, I guess.

I think that 2014 is too soon to judge if a player is going to bust or not. I think you have to give them a least 3 seasons. Also, you have to context it with how many players have been taken in the 1st round at each position. If you have 15 CBs taken in the first round over the last 2 years and you have a fail of 7, for example, compared to 2 at RB, that might seem like a much higher failure rate but, if you've only had 3 RBs taken in the 1st in the last two years, then it's really not. I don't know what the specific numbers are but you have to consider all aspects.

LOL, they need to let that go. He and they will be in for a rude awakening.

And my guy Wentz can easily too bf the trades by STL/PHI (be a bust). Part of the game w/the draft. But yeah it was clear to everyone he wasn't a pass rusher (good player though) but we needed him by gonnit! :D Now watch him turn into Watt. Draft is over, looking forward to next season. Not going to lie, if Romo goes out for the year in a 2015 redux style, I will watch the games just as any fan but not with any real expectations, etc. Unless Zeke does bring that AP like production with Romo gone, then TV volume goes back up:)
