This was not a draft for the casual fan

Getting a potential high 1st round pick next year is genius, and especially for Romo.

If Romo doesn't pan out, and there is a star at number 1, and we're like around 6th, we can easily move up to get that quarter back, and possibly without giving up our other 1st.

I also mentioned earlier this year, that fans will not be happy if we go the route of Pass Rusher and Offensive line.

I said it would be boring and no wow factor.

But when Romo has all day to throw the ball, and Julius has fat lanes to run through, then you will see the pay off.

When you see QBs have zero time to throw the ball, and all of a sudden, Pat Watkins is returning INTs and Henry is jumping routes and picking the ball off, then we will love what we've done on draft day.

It ain't cute, but it starts in the trenches. Now get a NT and i'll be happy happy.

We passed on a blue chip QB.

Many of us also wanted to see quality picks.

Especially at CB/DB, NT, and WR.

This Draft is very disappointing.

Many of us agree on what part of your team strengths give you the best chance to win.

Why get a blue chip QB when we already have one? And if he doesn't pan out, we have 2 first in our pocket, we can get a star QB instead of a blue chipper.

I remember last year when Philly went out and grabbed Brunkley, Justice, Jean-Giles.......some were complaining we weren't having a "meat and potatoes" type of draft and that we needed to.

Now we do.

And people are complaining. I have no clue if its the same contingent of people or not....

Though this draft doesn't excite me like the 2005 draft did the day after.....I have a feeling in '08 when one of these OT becomes our starter and we have solid depth on the OL, I will be aroused.

Lastly, I trust our draft board more so than anyone else's draft board here.

Hey...we just drafted a Kicker.

Wonder if he can play cover-2?

Obviously, you would run the draft soooooo much better than our management.

You not having a GM job is the new, 9th wonder of the world.

I must say that Dallas East's post from the Huddle Report is exactly the way I view the situation.

Ellis will not be up to par.
Spencer provides us with an impact player at a need position and at a good value (after all the trades).
Yes we NEED another pass rusher opposite Ware. Carp just isn't gonna get that duty done and honestly I think we should move him to ILB to replace Bradie James.
We picked up an extra #1 pick next year (potentially a top 5 pick depending on how Cleveland does).
In the 1st round next season... we grab top notch players at WR AND CB.

All of our needs are met in the exact year that we need to meet them.

Great job Jerry!

Whoops! Forgive me. I meant to say that the team needs is per The Huddle Report. The entire post is from between my two ears, it wasn't copied from THR. Sorry about any confusion.

The supreme truth from the 50,000-watt generator of adequate thought in Farmers Branch, where book learning is usually respected and strangers are given bus tickets out. Junior high recitals today followed by Eddie's Car Talk.

It was a slam dunk that Jerra and Wade would take a WR or a safety or even a cornerback in the first two rounds.

For fans who wanted the sexy, blue-chip first-day draft,k results were disappointing.

And in typical Jerra fashion, he went for a DE.

But the more one looks at this draft the more it makes sense.

Immediate help with a rushing lineman/linebacker hybrid and an OL who can bulldoze at guard or tackle.

And though it will be an excruciating wait for Cleveland's No. 1 in 2008, Jerra has forcefed a better tomorrow for the Cowboys and their fans.

He is clearly taking the building block approach and being patient about the team he dreams for.
And that is a triple threat offense with receivers, running backs and QB who can run when needed.

He is building a steel fence at linebacker and opportunistic playing by Canty and Spears will improve when Wade fully develops them.

Not a good day for the casual fan but a great day for the Cowboys future.

Now, about Sunday. We desperately need a diamond in the rough players for the secondary and WR.:D

The Cowboys had a wonderful draft in my eyes. You get the player you really wanted all along with the 1st pick and then steal a future 1st from Cleveland because they desperately needed QB.... Then you add great value on the o-line and grab a possible answer to the punt return game in Stanback. Let's see get a guy at Cal Poly that might turn heads in camp day one.... Not bad at all.

He can be taught in the physics and dynamics of the game. He is a human and can be led the right way.

Go, eduncan and be productive and wise.
