Usual drivel from you. Nothing new.

Ya know, if you were one of them little moles that pop their heads out of the electronic games, you'd see the shadow of a mallet coming down around now.

Splat!

Gotcha, punk.
I knew you'd respond.
You 30-minute lunch time is over. You can go back to your cubicle now.

I'm sure in your brain this made sense.

The trouble is, once it gets out of your brain, it looks like the ramblings of a crazy person. (A crazy hypocrite, interestingly enough.)

Maybe next time you could think it through a little more before posting, or just abandon the endeavor completely.

Nooooooooooo. You are too busy being Mr. Pedantic with the philosophical and hysteric . . . i mean historical bent. Talking down to the great unwashed, the shivering huddled masses of this forum, the salt of the earth and the beer drinkers while you relax in your Ikea loveseat and sip Siberian wine and eat them high-falutin' cheeses and that roasted sushi.

Is this what modern psychology calls transference? Because it's quite interesting that you would interpret a few innocuous remarks about logic and geocentrism (topics that are familiar to people with even the most rudimentary educational backgrounds) as attemtps at condescension.

It seems to me that people who would portray themselves as beacons of truth and enlightenment are far more likely to be described as condescending.

Just an obersvation.

And just to reiterate, I merely replied to your thread in a manner that I thought it warranted. In essence, you did your schtick and I played along. If you dislike how I played along, I suggest you cease with the schtick.:laugh2:

Hardly. It was Aristotle who devised the three basic tenants of geocentrism:

1) No sense of motion.

2) No great wind.

3) No stellar parallax.

The first two are rooted in understandings of the universe that are completely fallacious yet perfectly valid given ancient man's limited ability to observe the cosmos. The third is simply wrong; however, due to the immense distances between stars, the phenomenon of stellar parallax is almost unobservable with the naked eye.

Although geocentrism was a commonly held belief in Ancient Greece well before the time of Aristotle, he is the person most credited for establishing it as the dominant planetary motion model within academia for centuries.

Much later, Geocentrism was embraced by the Catholic Church as well as certain renown astronomers, such as Tycho De Brahe.

Of course, as modern people, we can easily admonish our ancient ancestors for missing certain key bits of scientific evidence. However, we should also understand that there's a rather large difference between looking and knowing where to look.

Dude! Frickin crazy man. I was going to say the exact same thing except I did not know it was people like Tycho De Brahe, I thought it was guys like Pete Rose.

And what do we git? A defense of mindless pedantism and discussions about evolution, astronomy, geocentrism etc.

That reminds me: I really need to apologize to Bear for calling him a pretentious windbag. In the last 24 hours, he's been lapped by two philosophy majors. And then some.

Has a job in the NFL? Or does not have a job in the NFL?

To be in the NFL, you must have a job with a team.

There are alot of smart people that just don't know what is what! There is smart, and then, there is commen(sp) sense...

It's the smart people that have an advantage over an idiot like me...

Explain to me how contracting works and how this does not apply to the given situation. If you can do that I will be more than happy to say youre right if it make any sense. Repeating the same WRONG thing does not make it true.

NFL players have contracts not 'jobs.' Players are not 'fired' they have their contacts voided. You dont collect unemployment from an NFL contract like you can from the supermarket. Just stop man you look more an more foolish as time is going on.

When you responded I did not feel smarter.
But there is always the next post and I am sure you will respond.
You are never quite happy no matter what the premise or issue.

I agree with you...thanks!

To say that someone that is in a profession, that they are good at, but if they are out of a job because of whatever? They are as of now, out of a job. He is not in the NFL...

If he does get a job with a team? That's good too!

You try and figure the rest out!

You sound like a bureaucrat. Git real!!

In the vernacular, in the real world we use terms like "job" to mean what you do to git compensated. And excuse us, the great unwashed, for not using industry-specific words.

"Hey, they fired our coach." "I hear the WR is gonna git the pink slip."

What's the dif, bub?

In the real world . . . in the vernacular, it is THE SAME THING!

Quit parsing and rejoin us on Planet Earth.

Im not saying anything about using the term job or the like even though in essence its not accurate. Its easier to use such terminology when talking generally on the subject.

What i am talking about is the specifics in this particular case. You cannot say that I am wrong so you resort to ad hominem hoping anyone will care. i dont talk nor write like you do yet you deride me for it. I am sorry that you do not like who I am but I am not going to change how I behave so you can feel better about yourself.

In short: deal with it.

Well, that was good...some folks just don't get it! They are to worried about what it's all about...which they will never know..

They would rather still think..."Is the Earth flat? Or round...maybe it's a tringle or rectangle?" They don't know!

But, it sounds good!

Life changes as the seconds go by...enjoy and learn, smart one!
