This 2018 team need to hit the ground running/winning. Looking and reading various tweets and Facebook response gives the impression this whole saga has left a bad taste in a lot fan base mouth and it's not about releasing Dez. But how sloppy and messy the FO handled it. If they come out the gate with a slow start I can see fans turning on Garrett and coaches real fast. Know how they say, winning cures all, well we better win early and often ..........bad start can turn this into an ugly season.

I believe the FO handled Dez's release just fine. Surprised they put up with him this long after Dez's "if you're not with Dez, you can kiss my ***" tweet.

I agree 100 percent....keep reading the same crap that the fo handled it wrong....they paid the guy over 50 million dollars and he got to the point where he was not giving a positive return, and on top of that he became a distraction.

The fo cut him flat out and gave him a chance to latch on to a tram before the draft...they didn't owe him anything....i wish dez the best of luck but let's all pump the breaks on saying this was mishandled....dez had 3 straight years of poor play relative to his pay and there simply wasn't going to be a 4th

Agreed from Dez's point of view. If this was truly a business decision then why didn't the team wait until after the draft? Dallas should have franchised Dez twice if this was the plan. His replacement should have been drafted last season IMHO. This move tipped the hat to the draft plan. I think the focus of the draft still has to focus on solidifying the trenches and adding LBs. They would have been better off swindling a team with Dez for a chance to move up in a round.

Thanks for the passion and memories Dez.

I don't want any excuses and I know there will be. There always are. It's time to put up or shut up. No we're rebuilding and it will take time for our offense to get used to each other.

It seems huge because the blast waves are still bouncing off the walls.
We'll be a different team but Dak wont feel compelled to force the ball to Dez and his 61 catch %.
We'll miss those astonishing circus catches.

I do think they handles it wrong
If I was gonna cut him I would have done it before free agency so I had that 8 mil to buy me a new toy

Look..

It's a business and Dallas played their hand to win overall.

The fact Bryant was released so far after the start of the FA period was calculated.

Which I understand. They needed to control the situation for as long as possible while they decided what to do with the Draft.

Once they decided that..Dez was expendable.

Others who want to knock the Cowboys for how it was handled.

just go back to when RG3 was released.

Same sort of deal.

So what's the problem?

I see none.

Dallas is to be praised for letting him go while there is a 100% he will sign quickly with some team.

Of course, its hoped that he goes to another conference in the NFC ..

but probably not.

But for sure..it will not be for 16 million.

More like 5-6 million.

Big difference.
