Tom Ciskowski and the scouts not Jerry are the ones who are responsible for the picks.

Pretty sure Jerry has some input in the draft process, being the GM/Owner and all.

Jerruh has plenty of money for what is important. So that does not wash. Forget the BS about money.

We used our first to get Roy who is clearly better then any one we could have drafted considering where we would have drafted in the first. As regards our second we just did not see anyone we thought worth it though that of course is up for debate. When your first pick comes in the third rd to expect anything immediate from your draft is frankly STUPID. We will get a lot from Buehler and some contributions from others - though maybe a UDFA like Ogletree could end up putting out more. We had some bad luck with injuries- but better that THEY get injured then our starters.

Go to the History Zone. Hostile has posted our drafts. Everytime I go, I'm amazed at how bad some were.

I'm sure he does have some input, but it is minimal. They have said time and time again they go strictly by their scouts' board, but I guess Jerry could be lying.

What most people don't realize is that if you hit on half of your picks, you did well for yourself.

After watching all four pre season games I really think that we need to look for some other back ups tomorrow. After the first string went out, it always seemed that our play went down the tubes. This years draft class sucks and Im usually not like that towards young guys. When the best player you drafted is a kicker well, that should tell you something. It should also be a lesson learned when everybody wants to trade down before the draft and acquire later picks. Those later picks(5-7rd) are hard to hit on. I know we got Ratliff but in general odds are low. Most, if not all of those extra picks from this years draft will be cut after next season imo. Look at this season. Im hard pressed to say if anyone's ever going to contribute to this team besides Bueleuer. The two linebackers are just as advertised, athletic, but thats about it. Ill give these two a few years to develope. I know the ones hurt and the other plays ST. Im not trying to be a negative guy either but if you think anyones going to be a player from this years draft class Im all ears. We defintly got too cute this time around. I do give credit to the team for hitting on drafts before this though but I really think we struck out this time around.

ps,Olgertree doesnt count because he was undrafted

   How can you evaluate this draft class when so many draft picks are injured? Are you kidding?

I would say McGee, Brewster, J. Williams, B. Williams, Butler, and Hamlin all have a very high ceiling and shouldn't be judged just yet. I still have very high hopes for Hodge as well. Hopefully his knee thing isn't a lifelong issue.

Obviously it's disappointing that Mickens, Smith, Johnson didn't work out...but really, the only one we should be disappointed about is Smith. As a 5th round pick you should make the team. Mickens and Johnson were 7th rounders and really shouldn't have had any expectations attached to them at all. But early hype put Mickens on a pedestal he didn't deserve.

I'd say it's way too early to tell, and that most of the early picks are right on schedule (in that, they have three years left to prove themselves). Plus we seem to have gotten a steal in Ogletree.
