I know he's not real flashy, seemingly putting his head down and plowing straight ahead, but it's pretty impressive to be leading the conference when your longest return is only 41 yards.

Would you rather have a returner who's like Thompson and get 25 yards every time but doesn't break any or one who'll bust one or two a year but gets a lot of 15 yarders dancing waiting for the hole?

I prefer the Thompson type.

I want both and you don't really see KO return guys dancing too much anyway. You will get killed awful quick dancing on KO returns.

That said TT is doing fine and he will probably break one eventually!

I think TT is one of the most underrated cowboys on the current roster.

To be consistently starting at the 30/35yd line after after every return is a big deal in my opinion.

I also think he'll produce in the running attack if given the chance. Unfortunately for him (but lucky for us), the 2 in front of him are having such good years that he's only seen time during mop up duty.

he was good last year but so many have this fantasy about taking abunch of kicks back for td's. it is a rare event to return a kickoff for a td. i would rather have a steady good return guy then the guy who will break one a year but get caught inside the 10 5 times a year

Mop up duty is great right now. He's getting some good carries for a 3rd RB. :) isn't he averaging over 5 yards per carry?

This year though I don't think he's had any great lanes to run through. Last year he had a couple that he should've broken for big ones and messed up. This year he's yet to have those opportunities.

What he said. Our return game on KOs is pretty stellar. I wish our coverage could get back to what it was about 2 years ago.

Not to take anything away from Thompson, as I think he's doing an outstanding job, but I think his stats have slipped. Per ESPN and NFL.com, he's now fourth in the league with a 26.4 return avg. I'd like to see him get back up to the top for obvious reasons, but he may have to break one all the way to get to Hawaii this year.

EDIT: Sorry, just noticed that you were just talking about the NFC. I could have sworn he was leading the NFL last week...

He is doing fine. It takes some luck to get a TD return and there aren't very many TD returns each season.

yeah, i think so, too. enough 25-30 yard returns will finally result in someone missing a tackle. he will get his chance...

It's a game of field position. Give me the 25 yard returns. 2 TDs may help win 2 games maybe not. (could win without them) Field position can wins games.

i wonder why parcells doesn't get him involved in the running game more

i don't know the answer...

...but i do remember thompson playing in mopup action in the first philly game last year.

he fumbled twice.

I really like this kid. Problem is who are you going to take carries away from? I like JJ and MBIII. Maybe if he can catch a screen that would be a good spot for him. He has increadible speed, and if he got in space he might just take it to the house!
