Are you serious?

I've seen t-shirts down there that say "a little spot of blue in a see of red"
I think Austin is a city I'd really like to check out one day. I've been to Dallas a few times and found it somewhat underwhelming, but I have heard good things about Austin.

Apropos of nothing, I went camping last weekend in Algonquin Park, about 3 hours north of Toronto. I cannot express how beautiful that place is. Very highly recommended!

whats the point of this thread.

I live on the east coast, i dont volunteer to any organizations right now because i am working 70 plus hours a week some weeks with 2 jobs and sometimes working 15 days in a row without a break, some of it is working on a business of my own (actually a partnership) but regardless i am working my butt off, trying to spend as much time with my teenage daughter as i can and still find time to do favors for friends when they have a problem with their house and i dont want them to pay high cost to a contractor when i can help them out. when im older and my daughter is grown and i dont have to work so much to try to save money for her education i will most likely have time to volunteer as i have done in the past.

Isnt the cost of living a lot cheaper in the midwest, if so it makes sense that folks there wouldnt have to work as many hours to pay bills, giving them more time to volunteer - which is most often IMO done out of a need for socialization due to too much free time.

There is no point...just something to stir up some kind of political debate and chest beating over where someone lives. It's really stupid to be honest...we should be happy that people are in fact volunteering as opposed to picking apart how much and where the volunteering is coming from.
