Thought on DeMarco's Long Run...

...obviously the guy is a stud and that was an incredible run to get out of traffic and find the opening down the sideline, but I didn't understand why he cut back into the pursuit when he had a blocker to his inside and green turf in front of him. If he had kept running straight down the sideline he would have probably gotten it inside the 10 and maybe scored.

Because he likes to punish would be defenders at any opportunity, simple as that. He is one angry runner.

Okay, maybe he was a little tired too. Hard to blame him, love to know how many yards he actually ran on that play.

I know Garrett will give Murray the ball with a lead. I want to see him give it to him when we're down in a game as well.

As Collinsworth said last night, it is a passing league now.

Running is not nearly as important as it once was.

If we aren't going to play Felix a series or two to give Murray a breather then why keep Felix at all?!
This is a long season. I like to see the staff manage usage of our players better such as break for Murray and Ware. We have decent backups so play them.

for his outstanding kickoff return ability

But it sure is nice to have when you're trying to run out a clock, huh? And it certainly starts to tire defenders and break their spirit. That was fun to watch.

Teams that can run the ball as well as pass, are still way better off than teams that can only pass.

It will always be that way.

except three of the last four SB winners according to Collinsworth had the worst running attack in the NFL.

I have no problem with running but at the end of the day, you win with the pass. Hell we closed out the game last night with a pass.

I think Murray understands the importance of just going down and preventing injury, unlike Barber III who shortened his career by seeking out big hits. This isn't the first time he has gone down during a big gain. It's either that or he just needs to work his conditioning...

:eek::

It wasn't criticism. Just interested in everyone's thoughts and several posters gave some good insight as to what might have been going through his head.

Unbelievable talent. I just hope we can keep him healthy.

I'm sorry. I was speaking in general and not specifically with anyone in particular. Please, don't think that remark was directed to you.

I think he is and will be very effective but I'm not certain I feel he's as special as some may. Not really sure what others mean about him. Just discussing him in general to all.

He got tired and quit just like last season.

This time it was a would be 80 plus yard TD, DeMarco will be lucky to ever get a chance to do that again.

I too was baffled and upset when he made that cut inside the field. I don't think he would necessarily have scored a touchdown, but it certainly appeared that he had an unimpeded path to the end zone at the time.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that given he was probably physically tired, he made a mental error? When the body is tired, the mind does silly things.

He was probably so surprised he got all the way down there from what looked like it was going to be a tackle for a loss

WTH was Vickers doing on that play? I just re-watched it and he literally wrapped Murray up like he was trying to tackle him.

If Jones had made that poor decision to cut inside instead of waltz into the end zone for the score there would no doubt be multiple threads hating on him today.

can't believe Free got away with that hold, or those holds. lol That guy just blows chunks.
