CFZ Thoughts about yesterday’s sloppy win

Offense

-I wouldn’t be so concerned with the penalties yesterday, teams in short weeks don’t play their best football.
-Dak has to be more aware of where they are driving the football. Cannot take chances when you are in fg range, at worst they should of been tied at halftime.
-Tyler Smith probably had his worst game, but the Giant rookie had a lot to do with that, he looks like a future problem to the division.
-If we can get Zeke playing like yesterday, our run game will be very difficult to stop.
-We are getting nothing out of Noah Brown, we really could use another impactful receiver.

Defense

-Anthony Brown is starting to get exposed as teams are avoiding Diggs. Hooker always seems late and Brown has poor in the air ball skills.
-Did well against the run, although it was a weird called game by the Giants, Jones never used his legs and they were throwing more then they usually do.
-Parsons had another 2 sack game against a quality tackle.

Special Teams

-nothing really stood out, Maher missed a kick in garbage time.

Knew this game was going to be tougher then many realized. 3-1 in the division heading into the stretch run puts this team in excellent shape

Noah Brown was playing great with Rush at QB...this isn't mean to be a Rush vs Dak post. I don't think Dak even looks his way really.

Re-grouped after a horrific 1st half to impose their will on a depleted roster division rival.
Did what they were supposed to do in the second half.

I have no answers for the penalties. But I fear as others do, that they will come back to haunt us again in the playoffs exactly like the San Fran WC game last year.

I think he is also banged up, but we need more production out of that spot

Zeke is not a bad runner. He's just not Zeke of 2016, and he's not Pollard. But he's still pretty good.

This is why I'm glad I don't gamble anymore. The Maher missed kick wasn't garbage time to gamblers. That was the difference in covering the spread.
Yeah, that killed many pocket’s yesterday lol

Possibility the worst call he’s ever made with the Cowboys. Still can’t believe he made that call.
Well I thought he did one last year too from our 30 maybe imagining it

Good stuff, and I agree with most.

- The penalties are a problem. The play of the OL last year + penalties is the reason we lost IMO.

All good and I agree with most.

I thought this was the first game Clark popped a little bit. Him and LVE were a good pair so hopefully a game they can build off to help the run D.
Think when Barr comes back we will have a nice rotation. Saw more false starts yesterday then on the road which was very odd

It's funny.
What should have been a 31-13 win due to a missed kick and lackadaisical defense turns into a 28-20 win. Football is fun.

I'm sorry, that late in the game with no chance of victory, i don't want my defense going full throttle. I love Micah but he needs to calm down. We're up multiple scores and you're mad you can't go back in the game. Does he know if he gets hurt that's damn near a fire able offense?

I think McCarthy going for it on 4th at our own 40 early was absurd. He shifted the momentum so heavily over to the Giants on that play and it was completely unnecessary. If he would have just punted it, I feel we would have ended up blowing them out. We were clearly the better team on the field.

I agree. That decision was a huge blunder. And it gave an overmatched opponent a reason for hope. When you have a good defense, you don’t need to be taking stupid chances like that.

Good job with your analysis. A division game on a short week is always going to be ugly. You could see by the penalties the practices were probably walk throughs. The Giants actually had a good game plan. They knew the Cowboys would load up on the run so they tried to throw the football early. I noticed the crap that Tyler is getting on the board but the Giants front four gave all our linemen problems. Even Jaylon had a good game. The Cowboys have a good chance to get red hot before the Eagles get here Christmas Eve. Calloway actually has some talent at wide receiver. I want to see him get some run in the next few weeks.

One thought about the game yesterday that I haven't seen addressed but wondering what everyone else thinks. Did DLaw tip that 4th down pass to Barkley. I can't tell for sure. But it looks like he tipped it and it slightly changed trajectory and Barkley then missed it. Anyone else see that or am I seeing things?

It was a sloppy first half. We dominated them in the second half. They got a garbage score, and that was about the only life they had the final 2 quarters.

If it was 4th and inches I might of let it slide but it was a legitimate 4th and 2 and the play we ran had absolutely no chance of picking up 2 yards. That was my biggest issue with it. Definitely should of punted on 4th and 2.

Or called a better play. KM did that in OT vs GB as well. MM needs to go over 4th down play calls. I have no problem being aggressive there. Just make a good play call.

we’ll be saying the same thing about Gallup or CD if OBJ can be OBJ

the reality is that on a run heavy team where the TEs and RBs also catch passes, the number 3 WR will not produce much esp if the QB is not going to look for him

Calloway is very talented but immature, maybe he had grown up

Beckham just on the field will have DC’s calling a different game.

The play call wall ridiculous. 4th and 3 is not a running play.

Possibility the worst call he’s ever made with the Cowboys. Still can’t believe he made that call.
He is an idiot. Garrett was conservative to a fault and MM is the opposite.

for a team like the giants that would have trouble scoring against us and wants to run the ball, it was the worst thing you could do.

The Philly 4th instead of a challenge on the CeeDee spot was much worse but this one was bad too.
