Thoughts after two games

Thoughts after two games?

We’re a young team, coming off a charitable 9-7 season, having lost key incumbents (Witt, Dez) and are still a work in progress.

Dak is coached to dink and dunk and not throw the ball into harms way or take chances. He plays like a backup QB. Playing not to lose the game. Dak is coached by 2 former backup QBs in Kellen Moore and Jason Garrett. This is Garretts philosophy. Let the other team lose the game, rather than go winning it yourself. I expect more of the same. And frankly, i expect to have some difficulties moving the ball through the air. Especially when were forced into 3rd and 8+

Dak is taught to push the offense and get them scores. He plays smart. Not dumb like Matt Stafford.

They won a ring without him.....you are giving him credit for winning a ring he didn't win....true definition of a delusional stan.

They couldn't have won with him. They never would have been in position to.

The simple fact is this. You have to be a homer Cowboys fan to think Dak Prescott is a better player than Carson Wentz. No GM in the league would take Prescott over Wentz. Even these idiots in Dallas had Wentz rated way over this stiff here. These two aren't even comparable.

ok but where did I say Da k is better than Wentz? You are so delusional and stuck up Wentzs are that you can't see anything outside of it. You are the only who has compared Wentz to Dak. Wentz is a great qb. Dak is a good qb. Both have one good year in their career and one down year. End of story. Go be a Eagirls fan if you can't deal with the reality that Wentz is a Eagirl.

I am curious, which 1T got the most action with the ones last night?

Looked like Woods to me, but they were pairing him with Ross a lot. I thought Woods showed good push most of the time, but I also felt like Price took a step back from how he was playing up until that point. Generally the 3rd time I watch the game I key in on line play. I'm going to do that tonight.

I see. So I can't evaluate QBs because I wanted the better QB in Wentz.

Good stuff.

I don't know what to tell you, creampuff. When I watch my team gifted the next great franchise QB and they pass for slop like this it kind of pisses me off.

think this was miscommunication or lack of
Heath has been covering this but cleared out with the tightend, was Xavier supposed to come down and cover the flat? or should Jaylon and Lee flipped with Jaylon over the tight end

Let's start with the surprises to me:

- I never thought I'd be saying this, but I am pretty content with where we are at DE and LB. I had concerns about both but the play of guys like Charlton and Thomas have alleviated a lot of concern. I thought Thomas was just going to be a JAG but he's been really impressive at LB in the role we will ask him to play.

The positives:

- I thought we'd be solid outside at CB. I've long said Jones is a CB, not a S. Between him and Awuzie, I think we have two guys that we should have confidence in over a full season. I can't remember the last time we had two guys outside with the athleticism these two guys have.

- Heath, who I think is just average, has had a good camp thus far. Really has locked down the SS position thus far and when in the past, I've noticed gaffes by him, I rarely have heard his name in telecasts, which to me is a good thing.

- OL, overall, has been what we should expect. Williams has had his struggles but I think as he gets more exposure, he'll be fine. Martin's injury, obviously is a big key.

- Pass rush has been pretty good and it seems, at least in preseason, they are messing around with more blitzing, trying to utilize some of the skill sets of our guys, specifically Jaylon Smith.

The concerns:

- People will try to write this off as just preseason, but I really worry about us being able to push the ball down the field on offense. I also worry that Prescott is going to be that dink and dunker. Last night, there was a play on that first drive where we were in 3rd and 7 and Cincy brought a blitz. Prescott had a bit of time but immediately threw a 3 yard out to Beasley who was essentially covered by two guys and stopped well short of the sticks. There was a lot of that last year as well. It has to change.

- While happy with Heath thus far, S overall is a real concern, especially if that hamstring is a lingering issue for Woods. Hopefully we find out something soon. I still don't have a clue as to what the front office was thinking only having three viable safeties on the roster when there were some decent, not great, options in FA that they could have brought in for cheap to give them a bit of a cushion. If Woods is out or it's an injury that nags him for awhile, we are simply in trouble at S and not many options now to handle it.

- Depth along the OL is concerning and something that sunk us last year. You can't assume we will remain healthy all year long. I won't go crazy yet on Fleming as he's a vet with a track record of competent play, but he's looked blah thus far. Looney is OK but he's really suited for a spot start or maybe a few series, not a longer term plug in as a backup. Green? Ugh. Edwards? He might be the best of the bunch even as a rookie.

- I still have concerns about DT but in fairness, they have not been beat up badly. But I wonder if they can hold up against better running teams.

- Pass catchers............. TE looks average and that might be me being kind. WR? Yes Austin is out but I am not one that thinks he's an elite playmaker at this point in his career. Gallup continues to flash potential but is a rookie. A couple of overhead shots in the first two games showed not a lot of separation from WRs. Maybe that's also due to scheme? On the TD were Prescott scrambled, if you watch the play, 4 receivers ran 4 simple routes, all were easily covered and it was only the breakdown of the play that freed Williams. So I still harbor concerns about this passing O.

- Slot CB. Not much to say there.
Fair and reasonable

there was a play, think it was the one Lee left the field
Joe Thomas came in and he had a very Lee-like TFL
haven't found it yet though

Yes it's preseason. Dink on first down, run on 2nd and 3rd. If you get a first down you repeat those steps.

I will never understand why so much gets read into preseason games.

first team units have played well. some 2nd teamers have played well, many have not. 3rd teamers have been dominated by 49er and Bengal 3rd teamers. some cuts at certain positions (wr, lb) might be hard, but overall most will be easy. imagine we'll add several players after all teams have made their final cuts. mcclay's nose is buried in evaluations right now.
ya we're not as stacked as it appears

Why are people complaining about Dak?

It was a 16 play, 82 yard, 9 minute drive that ended with a touchdown. Without Zeke on the field.

Are we docking style points?
whoa , many likes......styles do appear a thing here on the zoner

Sorry Syl, didnt have anywhere else to post this. Not surprising as Crawford has a quick first step.

That's how Brady plays.
