Morris Claiborne is 47th on the top 100 free agent list according to the NFL.

He has put together back-to-back productive and healthy seasons with the New York Jets.

I'd like to see him brought back for a 2 year deal at a team friendly rate knowing he can play under Kris Richards.

2 year 12 million/6 million guaranteed.

This signing is under the condition that Byron Jones walks in free agency next off season so we can net a 3rd round comp pick for him in exchange. Claiborne would be a nice option to have available this year and next. He has gotten over the injury bug.

Hell to the no!!

Thought the guy was turning the corner but he lacks something, awareness?, idk, something missing with MoClays game

Why would the jets not bring him back? And why would we give away our best CB next year? Do people not remember how they hated on Awuzie and Brown. We finally get a starting CB that isn't Brandon Carr and we're just going to assume we cant keep him.

I don't get some of you people. You build through the draft, you get a player that's playing at a high level, then you all want to let them walk.

Well...what else are they going to do with the money? They clearly aren't going ton use on free agency so they might as well use it on their own guys. And Byron doesn't strike me as a guy who will get paid and not work hard. He's a prime candidate of the type of guy I want to pay.
He may get extended
But we have Dlaw, Dak, Zeke, Jones and because we’ve drafted well they just keep coming
My point though was we are in decent shape at cb and even if jones left it won’t be this year so spending millions on a cb is not a good place to spend FA money

For me it would depend on the price tag. I think Mo has talent but not to the level that Dallas gave up to get him as a 6th overall pick. I will say I would not rate him as any better than what Dallas currently has at CB and I think the ceiling on our current players is high than that of Mo.

I don’t unfairly hate Claiborne like a lot of people here, but we have many more pressing needs other than CB.
Exactly
It’s not really about Mo but the position
Spending FA dollars for a 4th cb is crazy
We have 3 good CB and even if jones does walk it wouldn’t be this year

I think about his return too sometimes. And how he chases around the guy that caught the ball.

not the CB for this scheme.
we want bigger dudes.

Do you ever go down nostalgia road and look into the rest of the first round in that draft after Claiborne?

1 6 DAL Morris Claiborne DB LSU College Stats
1 7 TAM Mark Barron DB Alabama College Stats
1 9 CAR Luke Kuechly LB Boston Col. College Stats
1 10 BUF Stephon Gilmore DB South Carolina College Stats
1 11 KAN Dontari Poe DT Memphis College Stats
1 12 PHI Fletcher Cox DT Mississippi St. College Stats
1 14 STL Michael Brockers DT LSU College Stats
1 15 SEA Bruce Irvin DE
1 17 CIN Dre Kirkpatrick
1 18 SD Melvin Ingram
1 21 NE Chandler Jones
1 25 NE Dont'a Hightower
1 26 HOU Whitney Mercilus
1 28 GB Nick Perry
1 29 MIN Harrison Smith

With Barron reinventing himself as a 3-4 LB, this could go down as one of the best runs of defensive players in draft history. After Claiborne, of course.
Ouch, seeing that list is like a swift kick in the nads

Absolutely none!

Yeah but just because he's been on 1 year deals doesn't mean thats what he will sign that again. I thought he was just on a prove it deal.

And the Cowboys can afford Byron Jones. Don't let them fool you.
If he was on a prove it deal and is available, did he prove it on a bad team?

Same. He's a good player, but there's just no need for him.
If he is a good player, the Jets have cap space in gross amounts. They are willing to let him go. So that good player thing might be a stretch.
