I may be having some sort of weird positive moment, but I have watched a few of the late season games and he seemed to show up and be disruptive. Not in a big way with splash plays you would remember, but just pesky.

Perhaps it was just due to the fact nobody realized we signed him. He was brought on in the midst of our tailspin of death on the season.

He could be a sneaky little addition that could work out.

Sorry for the positive nonsense, been partaking tonight.

Nothing wrong with the positive movement, a steady dose of optimistic fiber can't hurt. So much of it will turn to crap soon enough:)

Liked the signing but thought it was weird we lined him up at 1Tech. Works fine against the pass but puts us at a huge disadvantage when team run on us.

I liked what I saw from Jones as well. Disruptive and pesky, like you said. He showed up out there.

The trouble with him is that he's much like Tyrone Crawford, where does he fit in? That's been the story with him for his NFL career to this point, and something no one has yet been able to figure out. Maybe they will in Dallas?

There is ability there. Guy was a first round pick for a reason. He could be a match up player for us. A guy that may be able to thrive at certain spots or VS certain players. A player like that isnt bad to have on the back end of your depth chart. Especially here, where the whole depth chart seems to get snaps. Question is is he going to be playable at a position in a 4-3 after spending his career in a 3-4, or will he just be a matchup player . His body type says he should, but we will see on the field

This team has at least 3 good 3 Techs with Jones, Collins and Irving and I also think that’s Crawford’s best position.

But for some reason the “experts out there” think we need to focus on that position in the draft or FA including the teams media (Broaddus, Helman, etc)

Yeah, I can't figure that out either. Exactly how many 3-techs do you need before you invest in one solid 1-tech?

He looked like a bad fit in Green Bay, both as an end and stand up LB in a 3-4. When he got cut and landed in Minnesota, that looked to be a better fit. It is surprising they let him go.

He was a positive.

He obviously has been coached differently. He was very focused on keeping blockers off other defenders. He was decent at 1tech because he has played 2-gap football and has good technique against the run.

In fairness, given the decisions of Marinelli and the FO, we were one step away from Rod Smith having to play the 1 Tech at some point too.

So many people want to draft Maurice Hurst from Michigan.................. another 3 Tech.

He was a very good addition. Not sure why MIN cut him but I am glad the Cowboys managed to get him. He definately makes the 53 next year.

I remember him make a few plays here and there but to be honest, and you will be positive for a change and I will swap with you and go negative...with all of the crazy ineptness of this coaching staff, it's play calling and game plans...I was paying more attention to that train wreck of an offense.

Agreed here, he feels like a heavy base end who can kick inside for added juice in the pass rush packages; or as someone who can rotate in the 3t (of which we have like 4 already). I do like the signing and pedigree though - another fmr. 1st rounder.

Nice catch Alex. I totally forgot he was on the roster. He was very disruptive, and looked strong and powerful. Not the player I remembered in GB. It's funny when you put a 34 DE end in Marinelli's 43 and the difference in size, etc.

I'm hopeful the FO is planning for Marinelli's exit soon, and not letting him pick all the players. I'm just afraid we will end up with 6 guys that all weigh under 280 if he keeps picking the players, knowing that he will retire soon.

I also thought he made a few plays that stood out. I think he can be a rotational piece in Rod's send waves style.
Big thing is he seems committed to still working hard and trying to make it as opposed to just quitting.

Nah .........you right. I'm surprised no ones talking much about this kid. Last what 2-3 games, he was all over the field. Hell, I can't remember if he was playing DT or DE but remember thinking who is this kid. He's a keeper.........
