Thoughts on Jason Garrett

I know that many Cowboys fans were ready to move on from him when it happened in 2020. Where do you think he went wrong? I mean other than the obvious, not getting it done in the playoffs. Why do you think he ultimately failed as an NFL coach?
He had no real coaching experience. He was a QB coach for a year and was handed the OC job. He simply wasn’t qualified for the job.

The reason for the last 30 years of failures...Jerry Dumbo GM Jones.

Most of my ventures ended 8 years ago, when I retire....now, I just take care of my dad, coach an occasional college all star game in Mexico and put a camp together, now and again. It was fun, at least I have some great memories.
Enjoy the time with him. My Dad never thought much of me. When I was young, I was in trouble all the time.

Jason just lacked the qualities needed to be a quality HC.
The bigger issue for the Franchise is that Jerry could not see that and kept him for HC for 9.5 seasons.
We flushed/wasted roughly 6 seasons because of this.
THE single most important person on a Team is the GM.
We have one that is inept, and until that gets corrected we are going nowhere fast.

Where did he go wrong? He wasn't a good coach. He never was.

He didn't go through the Darwinian process of working his way up through the ranks, proving himself, and earning his promotions like most coaches. Jerry was seduced by the glory days connection, the Troy and Moose endorsements, Daddy Garrett being a Jerry loyalist, the Ivy League degree, and the rest of the garbage that had nothing to do with being a good coach.

Still can't believe we wasted 13 years on him as OC and HC, but then Jerry is that big a selfish, nepotistic football moron.
:hammer:

Not in jerrys world. 1 qualificaton.....yes sir jerry.

No acomplishments. No experience to counter jerrys instructions. Perfect.

2-3 Playoffs

NFL coach of the year 2016

has 3 SB rings as a player.

Should have kept him.

Big Mike was a train wreck.
He was a solid coach but he needed to go. Once again he was not the problem. The Joneses are.

A lot of things went wrong with Garrett. He wasn’t experienced enough to be an HC when he took over and like the rest of our HC’s the past 30 years he was undermined by Jerry. One of the biggest issues was never being able to build a great defense that could contain Aaron Rodgers who foiled the two best teams Garrett had.

He wasn't good as an HC or an OC. He was a sneaky dude who got his HC canned, and there are players who feel like he back stabbed them. He thinks he's the smartest guy in the room and many people don't relate to those kinda guys. He wasn't a master motivator he came off weird and cringey. The dude should've never been a HC here let a long for almost 10 years. Romo carried that turd.

Look at the 2007 team.

That was his offense.
