Thoughts on Michael Gallup

I think a team might offer a 1st if it's a late first. I just hope it's not Green Bay because GB is short on receivers after Adams and they're pretty much all in this year with AR and Adams likely leaving after this year.
You think someone would offer a first for half a season of Gallup? I don't.

When he returns later this month, what would you do?

(A) Keep him, play him when he's healthy. The receiving corps is a strength of this team, so keep it that way. One never knows who would potentially go down next. Coop has been nicked up all year. Quality depth is not a bad thing.

Not enough balls for everyone though, so someone's gotta sit on gameday if Gallup plays. If not Cedrick Wilson, then who? Noah Brown?

A good problem to have. Keep Gallup, play him, and if you're not gonna re-sign him in the off-season, take the draft pick.

(B) Trade him for a player before the deadline. We could probably use more help on the DL, at safety, or OL. Are we going to get the same value back as we're giving up in Gallup? I say probably not.

(C) Trade him for a guaranteed draft pick before the deadline, one better that they would get as compensation for losing him. Not sure how I feel about this one.

Overall, I'd rather have the depth. Gallup and Dak work well together, and he knows our system. I'm staying with option A, and I think the Cowboys will as well. What say you?

If and when CeeDee or Amari go down we'll be needing a bona fide No. 1-caliber wide receiver.

That is why we need Gallup, blokes!.

You think you getting a 2 for Gallup?
We'll, tell us what's on the market and who to bring in for Gallup.
I know a contender that might be or feel like they are a quality receiver short might offer a 2 or even a 1.

Green Bay readily comes to mind. They have Adams and then ....who? Randall Cobb? Yeah he's a vet and made a clutch play but he's not what he once was...

Maybe the Bears if they start to climb up the rankings... they have Allen Robinson, and ...who else? If they feel like they need another weapon for a rapidly ascending Justin Fields.

And then there's always potential injuries to teams that do already have receivers.

You think someone would offer a first for half a season of Gallup? I don't.

Look at it from Green Bay's point of view... Adams is committed to hitting the FA market and Rodgers has already pretty much pre-determined that it's his last year for the Packers.

The Packers are looking at a multi year rebuild after one last hurrah this season.

Would you not? The risk/reward is absolutely worth it. The Packers have Adams and then a sharp drop off, Gallup would be a stud WR2 there.

No one will offer a first for a receiver coming off the bench.

Gallup would start on the opposite side of Davante Adams, with Cobb in the slot. It would most definitely make their offense all the more dangerous. Maybe dangerous enough to get over that hump they couldn't get over the past two playoffs.

Amari is already somewhat banged up. With Gallup back, this offense is going to be more explosive. We will need that when we get into the playoffs.

And are you saying they'll give Dallas better than a 3rd round comp pick?

the packers would like nothing more than a super bowl to end the Rodgers era. AR and Adams are gone after the season and those two are single handedly carrying the otherwise crappy and injured team right now. AR has repeatedly complained about not having WR help other than Adams since Jordy Nelson left and now they finally got Cobb back but he's older though still clutch. They do have a good TE in Tonyan and RB1 in Jones but don't really have a WR2. Their defense stinks for the most part. Maybe the thinking is to trade a late 1st round 2022 pick to Dallas for Gallup with the idea that they can keep him or let him go for a comp pick, but go all in to win the SB this year before they inevitably have to trade Rodgers and let Adams walk after this year's run.

Nobody is going to trade for Gallup when they know the Cowboys don't have the capspace to resign him, so they know all they have to do is wait out this season when Gallup will become a available free agent.

My thoughts on MG... I can't wait to have him back. Pay the man!

That's all well and good, but it doesn't translate into a first-round pick. Can you name a remotely comparable trade?

Jamal Adams, DeForest Buckner and Jalen Ramsey were traded for 1st-rounders going into the final year of their rookie contracts. All of these guys were Pro Bowlers and generally considered stars.
Stefon Diggs had 3 years left on his contract when he was traded. He'd had a 100-catch season.
Minkah Fitzpatrick had 2 years left on his contract. Pro Bowler.
Laramy Tunsil had 2 years left on his rookie contract. Starting left tackle.

Some of these also had truly awful organizations in common. Adams was disgruntled under Gase, Houston's management was a joke and the Tunsil trade was widely laughed at. Ramsey and Minkah were also really disgruntled.

These are the last 6 times a vet was traded for a first-rounder. Does Gallup's situation resemble any of these cases in any way?
Now, maybe Dallas can find someone as dumb as Gase or O'Brien to do business with; never say never. But I don't see it.
The Rams are a team that doesn't value picks very highly...but they've already traded away all their 1st-rounders for the next few years, plus WR is a position of strength for them.
The Packers got Cobb for a 6th-rounder, BTW.

play him and go win a super bowl and tell every other team to try to stop this offense

i also take adviantage of every second i have 3 stud wr and not 1 of them is a diva who is throwing a fit or pout on the side line because they did not get enough target
The pouters are watching on TV and tweeting.

12 more games to play (11after the bye) plus playoff games. Injuries come in bunches sometimes. Keep the depth.

BREAKING NEWS: He comes back that's less catches for #86

Absolutely. Our wrs play and never seem to cause trouble. Super strong group.

No one is offering a 1st for Michael Gallup . Be serious. Cedric Wilson has done a beautiful job filling in and Brown at the 4th option is nice depth to have. You can’t pay to keep everyone. I suspect comp picks are coming to Dallas after this year for the Gallup’s and Connor Willians of the roster.

You wont get a pick better than what you will get as a comp. He is coming off an injury during a walk year. His trade value is very low right now.

Keep a strength a strength. If Gallup leaves the team still gets a comp pick. If you're pushing your chips all in on this season you not trading good players.
On top of that, he knows our system. If we trade him, by the time he is up to speed, the season will be over. He has alot more value to us than anyone else right now
