This isn't a now move, but more towards the future. Mingo is very raw, but does possess elite athletic traits. He could potentially become that X receiver we lack. By trading for him, doesn't exclude the team from drafting another high receiver this year. Probably overpaid a little, but they are banking on his upside. I really liked him in the draft 2 years ago, has some Dez Bryant qualities, but he is more in the Jalen Tolbert level right now and won't make a big, immediate impact.

Absolute joke of a trade for a WR that’s done nothing. We gave up more for Mingo than we received for Amari Cooper, who’s been traded twice since we traded for him and both teams got more compensation than we did. Shows just how stupid the Joneses are. We’ve thrown away a couple of 4th round picks in just over a year for a couple of busts.

He looks like an X but he does not play like an X receiver. He's more of a big slot. That's assuming he can even play at all at this level.

I don't mind the player, but a 4th is ridiculous.

Mingo is the definition of a young player who deserves another chance. But a 4th is way too rich for a 2nd rounder who's already burned 1.5 years off his rookie deal and got benched on the NFL's worst team.

Overpaid.

I am having Trance flashbacks.

At least Mingo will have an opportunity to step on the field.

Problem is there's a lot of athletic WRs that can't cut it as wide receivers in the NFL.

Size? Pretty good.
Athletics? Madden level nice.
NFL IQ/techniques? ?????

There's nothing but hopium when it comes to Mingo.

He was depth in Carolina. Depth...
You'd at least hoped he got snaps and targets there

He has had 298 snaps to date on offense. 12 catches.
He's been on a solid decline since week 4 for snaps. From 80 % to 25%.

A move for the future is a trade in March when his value is probably less based off his play after 2 years. Not in November, but that's my opinion

Good post. Personally I think you can utilize a 4th round pick better, and I would have preferred to wait until you have your coaching staff in place for 2025, but looking strictly at the player this is the type of guy the Cowboys should be taking a gamble on. If he can be developed he is a guy you can put outside to free up Lamb to play more in the slot, which is where you can really start to create some schematic advantages.

This is another area where the Cowboys should have set themselves up to address a need in free agency, however we know that isnt going to happen. I wont hate Mingo for Jerry & Stephen being idiots....I'll give him a fair chance.

This trade was a dart throw. Boom or bust move. For the future. Rather have traded for Herbert from Chicago but Jerry was trying to improve the wr room only issue is the price. Looks like we got bilked. But if he pans out it will be good. Alot will depend on what we do in the draft, and what we can surround him with.
