2 1/2 seasons left on his contract and this isn’t the last season there will be football. Trade was for the future… not some aging out vet with a half season on their contract who would do nothing to move the needle this year and move along in FA after the season!
Ok, that could be a decent strategy. However, nothing about player called for a 4th to be traded away. We'll just have to hope the optimistic pov is how this trade works out.

This isn't a now move, but more towards the future. Mingo is very raw, but does possess elite athletic traits. He could potentially become that X receiver we lack. By trading for him, doesn't exclude the team from drafting another high receiver this year. Probably overpaid a little, but they are banking on his upside. I really liked him in the draft 2 years ago, has some Dez Bryant qualities, but he is more in the Jalen Tolbert level right now and won't make a big, immediate impact.
Seems like a can't miss pick.

Yoda really robbed the NFL blind while the other 30 teams can only slap their corporate foreheads in disappointment.

I used to value years on a contract but now I feel like it is just a trap. Next year is his year to blow up so that he can hold out and sign a big extension. If he stinks then we just lost a 4th. If he balls out next year then we traded a 4th for the right to sign him to a big extension. Neither of those is worth a 4th. Our only other option would be to force him to play his final year and maybe even franchise him after that. Again is that scenario worth a 4th? I don't think so.

Find proven talent and sign them to one or two year deals so they can ball out then leave as free agents. That and rookie contracts is some of the only true value to be had out there.

Other teams got superior players that will help now. Dallas traded a 4 for a WR4. Next year? What if he still sucks. Head start on FA? Lol, that's Jones vacation time. Look, I hope it works out, but it just has the makings to be as fruitless as the Lance trade.
I am not saying I like it, but it was not a trade to save the season.

Mike McCarthy said the Cowboys are trusting their draft grades when it comes to new WR Jonathan Mingo. He’s yet to meet with Mingo but likes the talent. I’m told the Cowboys had a third round grade on Mingo, who was a top 30 visitor to The Star in 2023.

They just resigned CD to a massive contract. There’s not going to be any 2nd contract to any other WR for the foreseeable future. It’s going to be draft picks and flyers on players other teams gave up on!

That's not true because you don't see the future so you're foreseeable future is yours alone however, logic says that look at CD lam's contract two to three years down the road so if you draft a wide receiver or somebody on this staff that we've drafted recently just all of a sudden jumps up has that leap like miles Austin took by the time he's up for a contract CD lamb's gonna be in his elevated years probably gonna end up being a June 1st cut so that's gonna be pretty quickly before we need another wide receiver so you can bash on the front office all you want because I don't want 2 very high-priced record-breaking contracts at every position in which most people don't usually most teams have one superstar in every position and then they fill in and it is best to fill in with young players like everyone saying we should have got a running back the mistake wasn't not getting Derrick Henry or paying and running back eight million $10 million this time around it was not drafting another one you can literally draft a running back every four years and just cut the one that's up for a contract and you'd be just fine there are times where that's acceptable you have to build a roster via the salary cap and I know other teams may have a couple wide receivers making big money but many don't most of them do not usually have one player at each position that makes the big money the rest of them you hope are young in their first contracts and by the time that contract is up it's possible that veterans contract is going to end up being a cap casualty,

rinse and repeat,

It is on a loop, this is just how it works you're always going to end up being another guy up for a contract right now that's going to be tough for Bland but for One, Bland will need to back his play and post injury earn that new deal. So if that does happen it's possible that Trayvon diggs will take a pay cut to stay on the team or get cut, than in comes Blands new deal.. Don't say it couldn't happen it could very well much happen here in the next 3-4 years.. But if you're intimating that they're not gonna go out and get a second guy and pay him big money at the same time probably not...
