Another NY team that I get watch the majority of the time. This will be a much more challenging game, even with the injury to Aaron Rodgers:

Offense

-Saleh their HC started his career as an intern under Vic Fangio, yes that former Denver HC who figured out how to stop the Cowboy offense a few years ago. This type of defense has given Dak and the offense fits. Play high safeties, rarely blitz and force QB's to throw into tight windows. Dolphins, Eagles, 49ers all play a variation of this exact scheme and they are all on our schedule this season.

-The 49er and the Jets have similar personnel, except 49ers have an elite Edge, where the Jets have an elite, young corner. Jets front doesn't have an elite pass rusher, but he has a ton of 1st rd talent at the position. J. Johnson, Will McDonald both were 1st rd picks the last two seasons. Carl Lawson has dealt with some injuries. Q. Williams is their star in the middle. Many believe he is better then Dexter Lawrence and could potential become a game wrecker. Their linebackers are excellent in space.

-Since the Jets do not blitz too often and like to play a ton of high safety looks, the Cowboys have to be successful running the football in light boxes. They keep everything in front of them so Dak has to take what is given and do not force passes. It will be ok to punt the football in this game as it probably will look real ugly at times.

Defense

-Jets killed the Bills on the ground, they have a whole stable of elite backs, Cook, Hall, Carter, Abandikanda all potentially have success running the football. Stopping the run is paramount this week, especially now with Zach Wilson.

-Zach Wilson flashes at times, but also is prone to making bone head decisions. Does have a strong arm and can run a little to pick up a 1st down. Take away his #1 target in Garrett Wilson and force him to throw to the other receivers he hasn't had much time to work with. Jets are going to try to manage the game, so expect a ton of runs, screens and easy short passes. Their receiving core is far better then what we have faced against the Giants, but we still should have the advantage.

-Their OL has a ton of high draft picks, but they struggle as a unit. They can be beaten off the edges, better inside.

Special Teams

-They have our former kicker, Greg Zuerline who is much better as a Jet then he was with the Cowboys, pretty consistent and can make long kicks.
-Jets have a dangerous punt return as we just saw they won a game with a return this week.

Even with how great our defense played the other night, I still have doubts about our run defense. NY was running the ball pretty effectively to start that game but due to the snowball effect of points off turnovers they had to abandon it. Nobody will argue that the Jets D will be a top 5 unit this year, so they should be able to keep it tight enough on their end to allow them to stick with the run throughout the game. On the flip side, if we can force some turnovers from Wilson then it could get out of hand and we should handle them easily.

I guess time to see if that new offense pays off. Take the easy throws. Don't challenge that. But in our defense, I remember a lot of pressure from Denver that day. D-Line was clicking. It's like that Tyson line everyone likes to quote: "Everyone has a plan until you get punched in the mouth." That's what happened to us that day more than Xs and Os. Fangio just full of himself and makes it sound like that's all it was, same way them Ryan Brothers are.

Growing up in New Jersey, the Jets were always my AFC team. I root for them, unless they’re playing the Cowboys. They are truly a cursed franchise. Nothing ever seems to go right for them. I’ve heard the high hopes for them pretty much every year. They do seem to be different this year, though. People were even talking Super Bowl until Rodgers went down. I just don’t think they can go anywhere with Wilson as their backup, they should have tried harder to bring someone in behind Rodgers. I watched the Monday night game. I thought they looked ok, but thought Dallas shouldn’t have an issue. But you know what they say, “any given Sunday…”

They have a good defense and run game. Shut them down, make Wilson throw. For our offense, be boring and don’t turn the ball over.

Good post and Jets write up. I think they have a defense that is just under the 49ers but have that elite corner. I will say this like the Cowboys understanding Daniel Jones, I think the Bills know Josh Allen.

The Jets have an elite back in Breece Hall and Cook is ok. The other two backs are JAGs. I don’t know how many carries Breece will get because he is less than a year from an ACL injury. Wilson will be interesting. I don’t know if you let him throw the ball much. It’s not just his decision making but the Jets pass blocking is awful. I was actually looking forward to playing against Rodgers because the Jets are not the Packers when it comes to pass blocking. If the Jets are smart they want to turn this game into two hour ground and pound 80s football street fight.

cowboys defense just need to sell out on the run and and keep everything underneath. We have the secondary that can handle their receivers.

not to overlook them, but it took 4 ints from josh allen, their one lone td was wilson intercepting Z. Wilsons terrible throw from the defender and a punt return td in ot for them to win.
they got talent on their receivers but i almost feel like playing cover 0 or 1 and then stacking the box-blitzing more would make Zachs life hell and reduce their run game to nothing.

I dont think our run game will look pretty at all, and well have to see more from the passing game

For all 38 QB's that have thrown 300 or more passes from the combined seasons of 2021-2023:

Zach Wilson is 2nd highest in sack percentage at 9.65%. Fields is the highest. Dak is 5th lowest.

Wilson has the 3rd lowest TD percentage. Dak has the 3rd highest percentage.

Wilson is dead last in completion percentage. Dak is 5th highest.

Wilson is also dead last in passer rating. Dak is 7th highest.

Wilson is last place with the highest poor pass percentage. Dak has 13th lowest.

Wilson is 2nd to last in On Target percentage. Dak is 14th out of the 38 QB's.

Last season the Jets defense had a total of 16 takeaways when you add the fumbles to the INT's. Last season the Cowboys defense had the same number in INT's only. They also had 17 fumbles recovered.

I think we will see Mark White halfway through the 3rd quarter.

I agree about the run defense, still not sold.

Our offense has struggled against these scheme over the last few seasons. Can they effectively run the football to open it up?

Like their helmets, best shade of green I could ever think of painting my dogs house.
Jets have no idea about the hornets nest they are walking into.

I believe that what we should expect, a ton of running and short completions. They are going to try to make him more of a game manager. Wilson has the arm to beat us down the field, but our rush and his poor decision making might take that away.

That would be amazing cause Mike White now plays for Miami, haha.
