Interesting to read all the different takes and opinions. Both pro and con.
Nice explanation by the OP about their defense and how they play, with the high Safeties.

I trust DQ will have a great game plan. They just need to execute it, and avoid costly mistakes.

So is this a good test for MM calling plays and Brian and MM devising a game plan, to move the ball against a top defense, well, #4 defense from 2022 anyway.

That would be amazing cause Mike White now plays for Miami, haha.
Oops.

Wilson will play so bad that they will have a mid-game trade where White comes back to the Jets.

Yeah.....that's it......that's the ticket........
Jets backup QB now is Tim Boyle
2018 UDFA out of Eastern Kentucky (by way of UConn)
NFC North journeyman his first 5 seasons ( on Packers, Lions, and Bears)

For all 38 QB's that have thrown 300 or more passes from the combined seasons of 2021-2023:

Zach Wilson is 2nd highest in sack percentage at 9.65%. Fields is the highest. Dak is 5th lowest.

Wilson has the 3rd lowest TD percentage. Dak has the 3rd highest percentage.

Wilson is dead last in completion percentage. Dak is 5th highest.

Wilson is also dead last in passer rating. Dak is 7th highest.

Wilson is last place with the highest poor pass percentage. Dak has 13th lowest.

Wilson is 2nd to last in On Target percentage. Dak is 14th out of the 38 QB's.

Last season the Jets defense had a total of 16 takeaways when you add the fumbles to the INT's. Last season the Cowboys defense had the same number in INT's only. They also had 17 fumbles recovered.

I think we will see Mark White halfway through the 3rd quarter.
Nice job on the research!

This challenge IMO is similar to facing the 2021 SF team in the playoffs 2 years ago with Garrapolo. Wilson is clearly the less experienced and more erratic of the 2, but the team will do everything they can to NOT put the game in his hands. But you're facing a stout and complete defense overall. You'll have to play a relatively clean game and not give them any short fields. I agree this is a good test to see where we are...
Right this has that weird feeling like we're being set up like the Denver game in 2021... We came out flat and got ran over in all aspects... Embarrassed by what was basically a bad team.. Hopefully they've got over that kind of thing with the let downs cause I mean last year we did blow out the Vikings and then come back and win against the giants.. People will say we were flat in that game but the giants were playing us well..

I I dont think we'll see that level of ineptitude from this team. But the challenge is similar in that you'll be forced to stop the run with some possible scripted deep shots. And offensively, it's going to be consistent tough sledding. Just have to stay as efficient as possible and capitalize on scoring chances when they are there.

Well then you better inform the fan base to stop looking for an offense to fill up a stat sheet versus one that just plays within the structure of the offense given each game and in this one they're gonna have to be patient it might be low scoring and all we're gonna hear about is Prescott can't be part of big scoring where's all the touchdowns where's all the scoring he should have played in preseason blah blah blah blah... There were people that had the nerve to talk about this last game like that outdoors in the rain game one what with such a huge lead and they act like we should have threw the ball all over the lot the exact thing we got rid of Kellen Moore for doing...

They're gonna criticize this offense if they're not trying to get chunk plays and touchdowns in big ways that's the way this fan base is they're gonna say this is all defense Prescott had nothing to do with it blah blah blah blah....

In reality this is a week to week league it's a year to year league and when you come up against a defense like this you better be patient and conservative for a while until you find weak spots in it and then take your shots.. And then hope that given the opportunity the tight ends and the wide receivers don't drop the football..

This is the NFL so you never know but I agree this definitely sets up as a low scoring game. Turnovers and short fields would be the reason the scoring is higher than expected.

Saleh is the real deal as a DC. Whenever he's had talent, his defenses have been nothing short of excellent. I don't think our offense looked that good last week, so he will make Dak's life hard.

On defense though.... pffft. This pass defense looks special, and Zach Wilson has been a dumpster fire. There will be more defensive fireworks.

It will be a low scoring game. The Jets need to run the ball at the Cowboys, play their usual tight game on defense, and keep the game within one score. If they go down 2 scores and are forced to start passing, Parsons and Diggs will kill them.

You do mean make the offense like hard not just Prescott we need to see how the offensive line the run game the running backs the tight ends the wide receivers are their lives gonna be hard I mean sometimes their lives being hard makes the quarterbacks lives hard...you get that yet LOL we ask in Prescott to play all 11 positions today I mean that's what it seems like because whenever we go back and look look at these game losses in the playoffs and whatnot we're blaming only the mistakes made by Prescott but not why the reasons the mistakes may have happened... Just be sure to use the word offense instead of Prescott there's a lot to moving parts on the offense not just the quarterback and the quarterbacks gonna need a run game he's gonna need the offensive line he's gonna need the play calling.. Something we have not got in the last three playoff losses I guarantee that you go back and watch the game film the offensive line has not been good the run game has not been there and the play calling was suspect against these great defenses.. Maybe that will change with the new OC and you play caller hopefully what we see is a new philosophy on offense.

My thoughts on the Jets:

They are 2-7 in their last 9 games, and would be 1-8 if Josh Allen had not gifted them the game this past Monday night.

Another NY team that I get watch the majority of the time. This will be a much more challenging game, even with the injury to Aaron Rodgers:

Offense

-Saleh their HC started his career as an intern under Vic Fangio, yes that former Denver HC who figured out how to stop the Cowboy offense a few years ago. This type of defense has given Dak and the offense fits. Play high safeties, rarely blitz and force QB's to throw into tight windows. Dolphins, Eagles, 49ers all play a variation of this exact scheme and they are all on our schedule this season.

-The 49er and the Jets have similar personnel, except 49ers have an elite Edge, where the Jets have an elite, young corner. Jets front doesn't have an elite pass rusher, but he has a ton of 1st rd talent at the position. J. Johnson, Will McDonald both were 1st rd picks the last two seasons. Carl Lawson has dealt with some injuries. Q. Williams is their star in the middle. Many believe he is better then Dexter Lawrence and could potential become a game wrecker. Their linebackers are excellent in space.

-Since the Jets do not blitz too often and like to play a ton of high safety looks, the Cowboys have to be successful running the football in light boxes. They keep everything in front of them so Dak has to take what is given and do not force passes. It will be ok to punt the football in this game as it probably will look real ugly at times.

Defense

-Jets killed the Bills on the ground, they have a whole stable of elite backs, Cook, Hall, Carter, Abandikanda all potentially have success running the football. Stopping the run is paramount this week, especially now with Zach Wilson.

-Zach Wilson flashes at times, but also is prone to making bone head decisions. Does have a strong arm and can run a little to pick up a 1st down. Take away his #1 target in Garrett Wilson and force him to throw to the other receivers he hasn't had much time to work with. Jets are going to try to manage the game, so expect a ton of runs, screens and easy short passes. Their receiving core is far better then what we have faced against the Giants, but we still should have the advantage.

-Their OL has a ton of high draft picks, but they struggle as a unit. They can be beaten off the edges, better inside.

Special Teams

-They have our former kicker, Greg Zuerline who is much better as a Jet then he was with the Cowboys, pretty consistent and can make long kicks.
-Jets have a dangerous punt return as we just saw they won a game with a return this week.

It's important to note this is a different offense. Cover 2, or whatever variation could actually play into our hands. I dont believe we will struggle with it nearly as much as last season. They also managed fairly decent last year, although I believe Dak took shots that he came to regret as well.

I agree there's a lot of people here that are way underrating the way they can stick to the run be patient and just keep coming at you all game that was our Achilles heel last year it was our Achilles heel in the first quarter against the giants and you're underestimating how that can protect the quarterback sloppy the game up kill the clock and make this a very low scoring tough to win game..

This will be our first real test against a team willing to run the ball game you remember last year when we had three or four games in a row where they just decided they were gonna run the ball and not stop the teams that stopped like the giants did I don't know what they were thinking but they're gonna test our run defense this week if they don't they have the dumbest coaches on the planet..

I would run the ball 30-35 times.. I mean all in different ways not just up the middle and trying to be hard core but if they move the ball on the ground in many different ways and come at you from all sides this is gonna be a long day for our defense given it's only game two and running around trying to chase chickens for 60 minutes is gonna be tough to do... Of course they're gonna have to play action pass and whatnot they can't not pass all game but if they dirty this game up the way they play defense this is gonna be a long day.. fans were high on clouds with that 4....his isn't gonna be one of those games...
Predicting Cowboys win in a nail biter until the end.....

They have a superbowl talented roster, minus the QB. They will be a good opponent, but I don't believe Wilson will be enough. We need to play the run hard early on.

Only reason Jets have a dub. Allen gifted them 3 of 4 turnovers.
That was game.
Wilson was lucky in number of plays.
Overall, I feel jets are little better then NYG.

You may be giving the Jets too much credit. Both NY teams had hot starts last season, then faded down the stretch. The Giants started 6-1. The Jets started 5-2.

Since then, the regular season record of the teams is similar:

3-7-1 Giants
3-8 Jets

The Giants are actually slightly better than the Jets over the past 11 regular season games.

Douglas is no slouch and Saleh is the real deal. That team plays hard. Defense is very good. Offense still needs work. If they improve the OL and figure out QB they could be set for a nice run.

Sunday though is going to be ugly. Dallas is going to be all over Wilson. It’s a really bad match up for them.

Excellent defensive roster at all 3 levels.
Very good tandem running back duo.
Ascending star at WR.

Need to maintain last weeks intense defensive effort and have a cleanly played offensive game, even if not pretty, and we can get out of this one with a W.

Jets might stay in the game for a half, but they will get worn down.

Don't lose to Zach Wilson. Make Zach throw and bad things will happen. Dak better not lose to another Mr. Irrelevant.

We need to find out as this type of scheme has had the best of us over the last two seasons. Let’s see how they attack it this time
