You get these type of games early on in the season, where many players didn't play in any preseason games. It wasn't just the Cowboys today; 49ers, Lions, Rams, Ravens all had bad losses this weekend. There is a lot to fix, but 1 loss in September has no barring on the season's outcome.

Defense

-This looked like the same defense that got blown out in their playoff loss to the Packers. Is it a coincidence that the Packers run a similar scheme as the Saints? Kubiak comes for the same coaching tree. A lot of motion, misdirection and outside, zone scheme. This has been the scheme that has given the Cowboys fits for the last 5 seasons. Mike Zimmer has had a good record going against this scheme in his history, so there is hope that this can be fixed.
-Similar things I saw from previous years, defensive ends played too aggressive giving up the edge and our linebackers could shed any blocks. When you see Diggs/Carson needing to make a tackle, the defense is in trouble. Lack of run defense reared it's ugly head once again. I have stated in the past the outside runs are the biggest issue for this run defense, far more then up the middle.
-Reason why they couldn't get off the field all day was that they couldn't get the Raiders in many 3rd and longs, very easy conversions if they even made it to third down.
-No defense will be successful giving up many chunk plays like what happened today.

Offense

-Going into this game, I expected to see a similar tough defense like what we faced against the Browns the prior week. It is very tough to consistently run against this front seven. Got to pass to open up the run against this defense.
-Although it didn't have much success, I liked how they tried multiple backs to see if they can find a hot hand.
-It is clearly evident that this team lacks playmakers outside of Lamb, Ferguson. Very easy to defend if all they had to do is take out Lamb. Tolbert showed flashes, Brooks in essence ended the game with his stumble that led to an int before half. Don't know what to make out of Cooks, but this team needs another true, top receiver, which probably won't be addressed until next offseason.
-Guyton had another up and down game, which is expected to happen this year.
-I know many want to blame Dak and the offense for the loss, but no team is going to win when your defense gives up 5 straight TD's.

It only gets tougher next week when an 0-2 Ravens team comes to town. They need to fix their run defense right away or we can expect even worse results.
1. We still can't stop the run. Until this is remedied, nothing else matters.

Clearly that have to add another legitimate receiver, just not good enough. Losing Ferguson makes defending the offense that more easier. Think OL struggled caused they had to pass to catch up and not enough people getting open, where Dak had to hold onto the football.
All that crapp, but the truth is we are lacking at DT. Until that is fixed, nothing else matters.

We get these games early, mid, late season and in the playoffs. We win when everything goes our way but fold when faced with adversity.

My thoughts:

Inexplicable blowouts happen almost every year to almost every team at some point in the season.

To anyone who is critical of the offense: If you’ve ever played football, which is unique because different squads play offense and defense, you know that the defense being totally inept eventually wears on the offense’s psyche. The offense can no longer execute the game plan that was installed during the week and the barrage of opponent scoring becomes very frustrating. While they’re supposed to be professionals, the players are still human.

To anyone critical of the defense: Go ahead and rip them to shreds. Either the players or the coaches (or both) deserve it. That was terrible today.

I often agree with your assessment but not this time
This was not just another early season loss, this exposed our weaknesses including soft culture, entitled players, lack of intensity and discipline, bad coaching, players playing out of position (Micah)
I expect a better showing next week but same result
Nope, none of that. This exposed that we suck at DT. When you suck at DT, everyting is monumentally tougher.

I liked what I saw from Schoonmacher 6 receptions and Tolbert 82 yards receiving . I want Flournoy and Dalvin Cook in uniform next Sunday Deuce and Jalen Brooks inactive . Time to mix it up .

Jerry was aware of the lack of starting depth at WR, RB and DL for several years, but chose to ignore it or address it with cheap, inferior, retread players. This showed itself today and will continue to do so when Dallas plays quality opponents.

The Cowboys are still unable to stop the run and were poor in coverage; Their pass rush is not a factor if the opposition’s offense remains balanced. I don’t even think Parsons was a factor after the 2nd quarter. It appeared the defense lost heart from the end of the 3rd quarter on.

The Cowboys are in dire need of a legit #2 WR; teams will double CD; I don’t know if he even had a catch in the second half. Dak needs to stretch the field…this dink-and-dunk offense that MM installed for Dak doesn’t work against good, physical defenses who tackle well; the pass game also suffers from the lack of a consistent running game…there is not one legitimate #1 RB on the roster; so DBs can play close to LOS in run support due to lack of receiving options.

The Cowboys need to play with physicality; the Saints were bringing it; you could hear pads popping when they tackled the Cowboys and Dallas couldn’t or wouldn’t match it.

This is only the 2nd game, but I think the Cleveland game gave Dallas a false sense of security and they ate the cheese and subsequently got embarrassed…

Lastly, Dak needs to play better too; he had a number of bad throws, threw two INTs and had a fumble Dallas was lucky to recover. He is now making $60MM per year…Jerry isn’t going to make it to the Super Bowl with Dak playing like this.

Sadly, I expect to see more of the same next week against the Ravens.

The Ravens to be quite honest are going to be be physical & desperate next week . Dangerous . At 0-2 there chances at a playoff berth are single digits percentage wise . Go 0-3 with a loss to Dallas and yes your season is circling the drain .

I was at the game. The D didn’t even show up. NO ran the same plays over and over. Kamara on the toss over and over. The secondary has to make all the tackles. SF would have scored 75!

On offense Mike was not aggressive at all. Like throw the damn ball! It was dink and dunk because we have no one that get open outside of Lamb folks. Be afraid. Be very afraid. The online looks bad
Noone was getting open. Even Lamb struggled. Lamb is probably still getting his legs under him from not going through any training camp. Why did Dallas waste a 2nd on Schoonmaker???? Zero playmakers outside of Lamb.

Too much $$ in the wrong place. Everyone knew Dak wasn’t worth $60 mill per - he’s not even worth $5 mill per. Both MM and MZ need to be called to the office at 6 am tomorrow and told to pack their ****.

this team mirrors its 60 million dollar QB. all talk and no results. the guy is an underachieving overachiever. soft and folds like a cheap tent in big games and against good team. he thrives on looking good against bad teams and stat padding in the second half in the second half of a blowout and he couldnt even do that today lol. been saying this since day one. if you still believe in this guy you are delusional. wake up from the matrix.

My thoughts are this team is not as good as we saw last week nor are they as bad as this week. This makes them the average to below average team we all thought at TC. An 8 or 9 win team which means one and done again should they make the playoffs in this putrid division.

This is why I was against giving these guys big contract extensions, need a lot of players to make a deep run. MM is not the answer either.
