Offense
-As I wrote prior to the game, Broncos don't make mental mistakes, have to play clean football against them. 3 huge early penalties, 1 basically took away a chance for a TD, another drive killer and a 3rd extended a drive. With the margin being so small with a terrible defense, this made a close game turn into 14-3 in a blink of a eye.
-Denver's defense is the best in the league in my opinion, especially when they play at home. Although their weren't many sacks given up, Dak was under heavy pressure throughout the day.
-Why was Lamb coming in and out of the lineup? Is his ankle still bothering him? Same goes for Turpin, doesn't look right.
-Schott has to be more aggressive knowing his defense cannot stop anything, punting in the 2nd half at his own 45? That was a terrible decision. Also, some of his play calls were puzzling, why are you in shotgun at the 1?
-Dak once again struggled with those pre-snap looks when they have everyone at the line of scrimmage. Chicago did the same thing with success.
-This game proves, the offense is still good, but somewhat overrated. The two tackles positions are their biggest weakness in my opinion.
Defense
-are given an early gift, then get totally destroyed, as they could of given up over 50 points against a very average offense.
-when I watch their run defense, it is either lack of discipline, too slow to react and not being physical enough.
-as I said prior to the game, if you just sit in zones, don't affect the QB or the WR's it was going to be a long day. Nix is most successful using those quick, timing routes, if you don't disrupt them, forget about it.
-I heard a stat late in the game that Nix wasn't even knocked down a single time. Denver has a real good OL, but this is inexcusable. Eberflus has to bring pressure if they cannot get home, but refuses to do it, outside of a few delayed blitzes that never hit home. Where are those inside linebacker blitzes?
-secondary is a complete mess, but we were playing players off the street, without any help with a pass rush. Every QB in this league would be successful.
Special Teams
-Denver's return game really hurt the Cowboys when they started to make a little run late in the 1st half, before the wheels came off
I will say this, not opposed to adding players at the deadline, if they are apart of the plan for the next few years. This franchise cannot just expect to draft/develop and expect this defense to get fixed, they are going to need to use the draft/fa and the trade market to get it done.
What I would do with the defense for the rest of the season is evaluate who is apart of the group moving forward and who needs to be replaced. Don't wasted your time with vets who won't be around next season. Start your DC search as Eberflus just isn't the right fit.
