It has become apparently obvious that this years team is doing something special. Yes, it could all fall apart, but it doesn't appear like it will any time soon. The 2015 season was a disaster of epic proportions. We remember it all, arguing weekly, firings, etc etc. However Romo's injury brought this team new life and a future. We couldn't see it at the time, but it was equivolent to the "suck for Luck" campain although we didn't think we would secure a young signal caller.

Teams like this, with this talent, hardly ever pick in the top 5. Had it not happened where would this team be today is the question I ask? Would we have taken Dak? We would all be watching Zeke from afar jealous with envy, "if we only had a RB like that with our line!".

Through Romo's injury we live now. It changed a lot. The coaches learned to not be Romo dependent. We actually drafted a QB for the first time in years. It also got us what looks likes to be one of the best drafts in the SB era!

This is a special time folks. What appeared to be the "window closing" now appears to be just the beginning of the "opening window". And had Romo not gotten injured last season none of this would have most likely come to fruition. Amazing!

Good read from a different perspective. In essence, Romo became the sacrificial lamb, possibly being that missing puzzle piece that gets the Cowboys locked into a contender for years to come. Crazy that it took a decade of "so close" and "you've got to be kidding me", and one last, preaseason injury to an unheralded franchise QB to springboard this franchise in the right direction.

Last year's draft may go down as something special. Hard to score players like Jackson and Frazier right now along with the obvious Smith. Right now taking players out who haven't contributed it's hard to argue with any "lucky" selection. Zeke was getting drafted by the boys once they let Murray go. I don't think we can hypothetically explain or rationalize how or why the boys were picking at 4 other than injuries which are part of the game and can be put into a category of "unlucky". Last year was terribly unlucky this year starting with the draft luck as you will has been on the teams side. I'm on the train and have been enjoying every second of it since the fourth pick of the draft was announced. The foundation has been poured and it has cured quicker than what most of us would have expected given the outlook when Romo went down. My only concern with the future is will Dak be the one and done RGIII after his rookie year or is he Wilson. Personally I'm leaning towards Wilson but the thought crosses my mind frequently. You won't hear me complaining if the team and Romo find a way for him to stay. So I tip my cap and agree whole heartedly this year has been something special. So don't let a win go by before you take it all in. Go Cowboys!

your right, tonys injury..... do we have to thank the eagles?? led to the bad season, which led to them having the higher picks.
What led to the comp pick we used on Dak??

So a lot of good came out of the bad. except for tony his bad luck continues on.

Good post but I want to comment on one thing. I just hope Dak is as mature as he seems because I could see where he might get a little upset with the Romo talk with the way he's been playing. I mean, Jerry is saying Romo has 5 good years left and blah blah blah. Dak is playing lights out and Jerry is still playing with fire. What i'm saying is I hope Dak doesn't get sick of the whole situation and make a dumb decision after the season. Something to think about.

Kind of like a tragic movie of an unsung hero. Romo carried the team for years and then gets hurt to open a new chapter of the franchise. It's like an opera of tragedy.

Kind of reminds me of how Darth Vader (spoiler alert) had to die in order for the Jedi to return. His death saved the Jedi and freed the galaxy of tyranny. So he was a villain in life but a hero in death.

On a side note I am really excited about that new Star Wars movie coming out in December.

I'm confident that Dak isn't going anywhere if that's your concern . . . he has it far too good here for that and I'm sure he realizes that.
What I'm not totally sure about is what Tony might do in the offseason. He wants to be a starter and it's possible he won't have the opportunity to be doing that in Dallas with Dak taking over his old spot. I wouldn't be shocked if he requested a trade at that time. Getting one is another story.

Very good post....There's been a lot of whining about what Romo deserves, or what was supposed to be.....I love Tony and his story may have another chapter but you can't have a 2 playoff win in a decade resume...and not be able to stay on the field and not expect the narrative to change...

Romo does have bad luck as his injuries are weird, not run of the mill ACL's. But it's hard to feel sorry for him. He's married to a hot blonde, just built a mansion, and has his whole life ahead of him! ;)
