Woody Dantzler was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys after the 2002 NFL Draft on April 29, to play as a running back. He was released on September 1 and signed to the practice squad. On November 27, he was promoted to the active roster to return kickoffs. On December 8, he scored his first NFL touchdown when he returned a kickoff for 84 yards against the San Francisco 49ers.
