The Thunder are truly one player or less from winning a title and disbanding San Antonio once and for all. I'd sure love to have those first two games back where Ibaka was out, but anyway here's my board for OKC for hopefully realistic picks at 21 and 29. I would love Payne (if he slips to 21) and one of any of the others.

1. Adreian Payne (PF Mich St): He can do the one thing NO ONE in OKC can currently do, score down low with his back to the basket. Imagine OKC with a player who was a threat in the low post who could draw doubles and kick out to wide open Durant….Ibaka is a great player but he's not a threat down low in the post up, and Adams isn't yet either. Not only that but Payne can block shots, knock down jumpers and threes, and rebound.
2. T.J. Warren (SF/SG NC St): Can do something only three people (KD, RW, and RJ) in OKC can do currently, create their own shots. Guy is a pure scorer. Warren would present a solid scoring wing option and ease some of the pressure on the stars.
3. Jarnell Stokes (PF Tenn): Cheaper version of Payne (above). Like Payne, Stokes can bang down low and that physical low presence is what did the Thunder in, and has for the past three years (besides poor coaching). Stokes can score a bit and post up a bit, good defensively too.
4. Mitch McGary (PF Mich): Pending how his back checks out he hits all the same points and makes sense for the Thunder for the same reason Payne and Stokes do. He can bang, score, post, defend, and rebound down low.
5. Shabazz Napier (PG UConn): Depending on what Presti plans to do about Reggie Jackson's pending free agency (after next season I think..?), Napier could make some sense. He's a true PG (something Westbrook isn't) and can truly quarterback an offense with controlling tempo and setting up good looks for teammates. He's good driving and can score in his own right. In fact, he's a lot like Reggie Jackson so would make sense if OKC just uses him to replace Reggie.

btw.....doesn't matter who you add......Durant is still soft, refuses to develop a post up game and plays little D. You have no bench. You still have Brooks "The Great Enabler" as a HC. Brooks does nothing to develop the roster. He overextends the minutes of his 3 stars, leaving them worn out come playoff time. He has yet to develop a half court game plan since he has been the coach.

So since you have no bench, how are you 1 player away from dethroning the Spurs? Also, the Spurs finally got over their Ibaka and playing in OKC yips.......so it is all good from here on out.

actually have to agree with you on the points about Brooks, believe he is one of the worst coaches in the league. Not sure what the offense is called exactly…"Westbrook or Durant create a shot"? Cuz that's all it looks like.
However, you can't possibly believe that the Spurs could compete with the Thunder if had a low post that could score 15 per game on the block with their back to the basket. As the Spurs Gs and Fs have been spoiled with Duncan being a threat down low for so long. It gives their Gs and Fs a lot of room to operate and makes otherwise average players like Leonard look like stars. Imagine OKC with a threat down low, KD, RW, and Ibaka would feast freely rather than having to force shot after shot.
The Thunder starting five are better than SA's first five (as demonstrated but sheer dominance over them since late '12) but I do tend to agree with two things, A) SA has done much more to develop their role players and B) Pop is a genius on scheme and maximizing players.
The other problem is OKCs seemingly irrational emotional attachment to the total non-threat that Perkins is. No idea why they don't drop his salary and go after any number of players that would actually be a threat down low….like Gortat….Gasol…etc.
But seriously, a consistent 12 pt 10 feb center down low would make the Thunder nearly unbeatable. I think Durant might hit 80 one night if they had that.

When you had Harden, I would say your starting 5 was better, but last year, NO. Heck, even with Martin, I would say no. It had nothing to do with you guys being better, it had to do with the Spurs having to get over the stigma they had playing in OKC and also attacking the lane against Ibaka. For some reason those two things really messed with the Spurs heads. However, after game 5 and 6 of the WCF, I do not see the Spurs having anymore issues with Ibaka or playing in OKC.

Isn't Ibaka your 12/10 Center? I didn't know he was your PF. BTW, don't give up on Adams just yet, he was only a rookie. He needs time in the gym, maybe rent Hakeem or Ewing for a summer or two. Still, you need a bench of at least 5 players to spell your starters throughout the year. Durant and Westbrook cannot continue to play 40 minutes a game for 82 games and then in the postseason year after year. They are going to be spent come their 30s.

For the record, I could give a rat's backside about any of the other 29 teams in the NBA. My team is the best in the business and the current Champs. That is all I care about. My football season has sucked lately with the Cowboys and Longhorns playing so poorly. My baseball season has sucked since Biggio retired and Comcast making it impossible to watch the Astros on TV. The Pens consistently underachieve in the postseason. So, I am going to continue to drink the Silver and Black Kool-Aid, bask in the glow of a 5th O'Brien, and be as obnoxious as I can, while I can about my San Antonio Spurs. I know this run won't last forever, but it has been one heckuva ride so far.....and from the looks of things, we still have another year or two to go.

BTW, speaking of my Spurs and their 41 years in the NBA.....#2 all-time winning %, #4 in NBA Championships, 15 consecutive 50+ win seasons (won 37 of 50 in strike year of 99), 6 losing seasons since joining the NBA in 1973-74, missed the playoffs only 4 times, 2 current HOFers (will be at least 4 more once Pop, Tim, Manu, and Tony retire)

lol.

I think we are more than one player away from winning. That's my personal opinion.

Well if you go by your own Spurs history they won't repeat this year anyway. They've never repeated before so there really isn't any reason for me to believe they will this time either.

Spurs are a great team. I love the way they play team ball and how consistent they are.
