Tidbits of Interest Re Cowboys

If he doesn't take a pay cut he will.

No, he won't.

You don't fix your sorry OL by cutting the only player on the line that played worth a crap.

If we were to cut him it would take MORE then the money we'd save to find a replacement, and that replacement most likely wouldn't be as good as Allen. He won't be cut, and he won't have to restructure his contract.

What are you, 11? 12?

It's simple economics. Yes, we'd save money by cutting him, but then we'd have a gaping hole at LG. It would cost MORE money to fill that hole then the amount we'd save by cutting him. That's not cost efficient. That's plain stupid.

Larry Allen might take a pay cut, yes. But he doesn't HAVE to take a pay cut.

Sorry Rosh, but you're way off. Ellis has NEVER complained about his money. He's been complaining about PLAYING TIME. He wants to PLAY more snaps. I don't see how you can see any similiarities between the two.

Ellis has said he doesn't think he'd be here cuz of his contract and the amount of snaps he was getting at the end of the year. How does that sound like a guy wanting more money? If anything, he thinks he won't be here cuz he's making too much money for the amount of snaps he's getting.

Read between the lines....It's now or never for Ellis to get a Barry contract. He signed a way below market deal.

Players happy with their contract don't ask to be cut.

He's signed throught what? 2009?

He's cornered and trying to wiggle out and get a sweeter deal in the process.

I think BP is finally going to take the diaper off Peterman. The guy was a very highly reputable guard when he was drafted. He has the talent level of anyone we could hope to draft this year so I think we make the change. Larry Allen must take a pay cut. He is simply not worth 7 million dollars.

I thought the LA savings was something like $3.5 million. You can get 2 starting guards for that.

I agree on Peterman. It's time to see if he can be a player. I'm surprised he didn't get any playing time this year, especially when Rivera was dinged or ineffective. Anyhow, it would really stink if Peterman didn't step up. Then that would be Jacob Rogers (2nd) and Peterman (3rd) both bad picks in the 04 draft.

When you look at it, Parcells tried to beef up the offensive line right away with these two guys. And then beefed up the defensive line with our last draft. It's just that Rogers was a bust and Peterman had better step up this coming season. Regardless, we still need to draft 1 or maybe 2 offensive lineman in this coming draft...let alone look at 1 in FA.

It is really Peterman's 2nd year. He lost his rookie year to a season ending injury. I really hope Peterman and Johnson step up. I'm guessing BP is fed up with Rogers and he will be cut as soon as he is medically healthy. At least Parcells tried to shore up the Oline. Houston seems to try and get by with a bunch of scrubs and they are getting Carr killed out there.

No YOU read between the lines. The contract has nothing to do with it, playing time DOES. He's only complained about his minutes, not his money.

And LA played as bad as anyone who wasn't playing OT last year.

He's gone.

If you truly believe that then you've got about as much football knowledge as a clipped toenail.

That's was just completely ignorant.

1. Let's hope the diapers stay on. Peterman sucks.

2. Highly reputable? Highly reputable guards don't get drafted in the 3rd round and then considered picked too high.

3. Talented as anyone we could hope to draft this year? You kidding me? I'll take that USC guard over any backup guard on our roster.

4. And AGAIN, Larry Allen does not HAVE to take a pay cut. Our cap number is fine. We don't need to restructure contracts to free up room. We've got PLENTY of room to bring in more FA's. PERIOD.

5. "Worth" has nothing to do with it. There isn't a football player in the NFL "worth" the money they're making.

Maybe in your little dream world.

Starting? Yes. But they'd be the two worst starting guards in the NFL, by far.

Some of you people are unbelievable. Our problems on the OL last year were, by far, due to the play of our tackles.

So your solution is to cut our best offensive lineman? F'in brilliant.

We do not know about Peterman. As far as cap room is concerned we only have 3 million dollars. Thats not even enough to sign one free agent after we sign our draft picks. Allen, Glover, and maybe Singleton will be gone. Don't be surprised to see Bentley signed to play guard.

Where did you hear/read that? As far as I know, we're in good cap shape.
