Pre-snap penalties, missed blocks, missed tackles, fumbles and romo holding on to the ball too long when given plenty of time STILL PLAGUE the cowboys! No difference from last few years to me. I took off my rose-colored glasses a long time ago. Tons of work still to do.

My one problem with the offense is that they hold the ball too long. Orton was the only one who looked like he was getting the ball of regularly without the play-clock winding down to 0. Romo holds the ball too long. Stephens was holding it for a while, but he eventually got it off and started making some plays.

Offensive line looked improved. That's encouraging. Unfortunately, from a production standpoint, it was more of the same--lots of yards, explosive plays, but very few points.

Am I blind? Or we're there not more than 1 single Pre-Snap penalty?

Most of the stuff you speak about is coming from the 2nd and 3rd string, which I promise were not the only team that doesn't have All-Pro backups...

Romo was 6 of 8 passing for 88 yards.......That's "horrible?"

Especially considering it was his first semi-live fire play. I thought the sack was a waste but I wouldn't hold it against him. I was far more annoyed by Witten's hold on the run since he had penalty issues last year as well.

Romo wanted to go out in a blaze of glory on a pass or two. Nothing more than that. Its preseason. He said in an interview before the game that the offense wasn't going to show much. Penalties? Yeah, that needs to be cleaned up though.

Are we sure these type of threads aren't started by fans of opposing teams? Or do some of our fans really manage to see 6 for 8 as terrible?
I have trouble believing that.

As a consistent OL critic and worrywart, I thought the OL looked pretty good last night. That continues to be the biggest potential pitfall on this team so I was really encouraged. Romo was fine. Dez is ready. The penalties were bad. The (mostly second string) D was caught off guard by some of the option/pistol stuff they threw at us in the 2nd quarter and that's a worry, especially for an NFC East team. But overall it wasn't a bad performance.

The OL looked good last night, for the most part, as did Romo. Two things concerned me last night:
-Pre snap penalties and the hold on Witten, which helped set the tone of the game for the offense.
-Poor tackling, especially from the secondary.

There's plenty of time to correct these problems as it's early in the preseason. This gives the coaches something to yell and scream about at practice this week. On a coaching note, I know Garrett is adjusting to his new role as a "walk around head coach" but he was smiling a bit too much for me during the game. When the team is playing soft and executing poorly, there's nothing to smile about. I'm a fan of Garrett, but this doesn't sit well with me.
