Horrible Romo? Wow, I thought I've been rough on him. For his first action I'd give him a solid B. Accurate to a degree, good stats, excellent read on the Dez slant.

Drawbacks, he's still TR, Held the ball looking late over the middle bad combo. Orton ran a almost identical play, there was nothing there, tossed it to his check down for a 8yd gain. Romo had at least 1 guy open in the flat maybe 2, but I couldn't really tell with the second, yet he took the sack. He's in his 30's and cannot take sacks. No, not saying Orton should start, but he had a better command last night. (1 night)

Tony's second fault is misjudging the range of movement of the DL's and LB's around the LOS, how many times does he have a pass deflected, swatted down, or picked around the LOS? Almost every game he just misjudges the throw. Parcells saw this with him as a rookie and had his release point changed, but it's more than that, it's judgment.

So all this time we've complained about the OL not giving Romo enough time, now they do give him time and we criticize Romo for actually USING the time the OL gives him?

Wow. Romo played fine. The OL kept him clean (the one sack was on him) and he took advantage of the good passpro.

This is borderline rant zone material. The team looked decent yesterday, and it's the preseason regardless. Still didn't have many starters in, and the Raiders are a pretty good team, especially when it's the preseason and you can run the zone with Pryor and not have any concerns.

Preseason game 1.5 Starters: Romo was 6/8 88yds. Murray had 2 carries 8yds but had an 8yd carry nullified by the Witten hold. Admittedly, Romo missed a wide open Austin and possibly Bryant on one play. It happens. The Oline wasn't bad. They looked good in the run game. Dallas appears to have decent depth at RB. We still haven't realy seen too much from the TE; we know what we get in Witten, maybe we'll see more Hannah and Escobar next game. Oh is Harris safe at #3 WR or could Beasley take over the spot? I dunno, but I depth is a good, good thing and Beasley showed up.

On defense having Lee & Carter on the field at the same time changes the whole character and effectiveness of the defense. I think the Dline/depth looked good; Selvie could be a find. Secondary still worries me but we'll see. Safety spot will be a ? until these guys step up.

Special teams...not worried about Dan Bailey even with the blocked FG. Webb had a BAD day and that muff was the cherry on his turd sundae. Time to see what he's made of. Time to see how he comes back.

Room for improvement as always, but not "bad"

The offense was inconsistent and self-destructive, much as they've always been, but they are playing some young guys and some growing pains are to be expected. I think they will be fine provided there are zero injuries on the OL and Frederick plays center and Bernadeau at RG. How's that for razor thin depth? but that's to be expected, if your'e struggling to field a complete set of starters then your depth will be thin.

Romo doesn't worry me in the least, though if he's got extra pocket time this season he should automatically look for Dez, that should be a no-brainer.

The defense does scares me though, specifically the pass defense. If they are giving up chunks of yards to the likes of Tannehill and Flynn what's going to happen when a real QB rides into town?

Exactly. When romo checks down it's why doesn't he ever look deep. When he looks deep it's why didn't he check down. Lol I didn't realize so many of our posters here were super bowl winning qbs.

The best takeaway from the offense is the oline is looking really good. Romo and the other skill guys will flourish if that continues

Pre-snap penalties, missed blocks, missed tackles, fumbles and romo holding on to the ball too long when given plenty of time STILL PLAGUE the cowboys! No difference from last few years to me. I took off my rose-colored glasses a long time ago. Tons of work still to do.

Trolling??

The 1st string defense didn't give much up in pass defense, besides Webb being abused. That will go away when Claibornes takes his spot back at outside corner.

C'mon fellas, what did you expect to read here? Common sense?

I thought both first teams looked good for the little time they played.

Good point.

Romo-good.

Special teams-bad.

Penalties-bad.

The penalties and special teams play have got to be cleaned up before Week 1 and the Giants.

I see certain Cowboys fans remain stupid.

Anyone complaining about the 1 play of 8 is ignorant or trolling. The sack was the right thing to do at that point in the play. Why don't the haters EVER talk about Romo's good plays? Because they're haters. They need the negative feedback they get to make them feel important. They're too ignorant to realize that their takes prove how ignorant they are about the game of football.
