Tim Brown crushing Callahan

Yep, heard several times when we hired him that most of the players at Oakland absolutely hated his guts. Very arrogant, supposedly.

Good enough for the Nebraska AD to hire him, though. :( :banghead:

But I do think he'll be a better OL coach than Houck.

Basically very smart guy didnt translate well in his experience. Said he quit on the Raiders as an assistant and players wanted him gone. Destroyed what Gruden built in six months as HC. Coudnt understand why Jets O tanked with him as an assistant.

As a head coach, I could see some arrogance on Callahans side of things. He did appear to be that kind of person at Oakland and even at Bug-U.

Saying that... I doubt he carries that same approach to coaching since leaving Oakland and Bug-U..you know...since he isn't a HC anymore.

I see a legit OL coach in Dallas and I couldn't be more excited about him being here.

Uh, they went to the Super Bowl with him as head coach in his first year, Tim.

Yep and 4-12 the next year. Hopefully somebody posts that part of the interview.

I like the idea of a real hard case at O line. I think frankly Houck no longer had the fire and nastiness to really get on the players.

According to Tim Brown you need to switch the word hard for jack. He really had no use for the guy at all. Sturm even said you are not doing a very good job of selling the fan base on him. Brown offered no apologies.

Callahan not a very good coach? You've gotta be kidding me.

Really? Was that before or after Callahan took them to the Superbowl?

I understand Tim's position. He played for the guy and has a right to his opinion. I think I'd be concerned if he was the HC, but since he's an assistant and for all intents and purposes well respected at the position group he's responsible for, then I'll just keep my hopes that he'll help to improve the O-line's synergy.

Whatever. I'm not even sure what success as a HC has to do with being an Oline coach. Look at Jim Hanifan or Joe Bugel. Great Oline coaches mediocre HCs.

Sounds like a perfect complement to Garrett.

Tim Brown has always had a big mouth for some reason. It's like he feels jaded because he played on lousy teams almost his entire career.

As for Callahan I've never heard anything but great things about him as a Oline coach. He is a technical junkie. These young guys can learn a lot from him. Also as the HC of Nebraska, following a legend, and then switching from the triple option, to the WC offense was like trying to stick a square peg into a round whole. That would take years to accomplish with recruiting, etc.

I love the hire, and could care less about Timmy Brown. He still jaded because Aikman didn't want him when Jerry asked if wanted to go get him!

Callahan was not my first choice , but at least he is not Houck . Brown's opinion means nothing when it comes to Callahan coaching the line .
