Bloom was respected as a great teacher in technique, especially in pass rush and shedding blocks. One knock on LVE coming to the pros was taking on and shedding blocks. It doesn't look like he's having any problem with it as a Pro. I've even noticed Jaylon giving a quick punch like a DE to shove and disengage from blocks.

A lot has been said about Richard's addition to the defensive staff and the mentoring that Lee has had on our young LBs, but it might be time to tip the cap to Ben Bloom too.

I had saw a cool clip on one of Baldy's breakdowns vs the Eagles, where Jaylon is sprinting for the sidelines to get to a screen pass and a lineman is reaching to angle block him. He gets two hands on of Jaylon's shoulders and starts to drive him off his path, when Jaylon pulls this windmill move with his arm to shed him and disengages without even breaking stride. That's not just athleticism, that shed move shows there's some real coaching going on too.

Lee has been more of a coaching factor than anybody.........when he's been injured he's been seen working with LVE and he's elated with his success.
Lee is helping with watching tape, dissecting plays etc, but Bloom is out there teaching and reinforcing techniques, using their hands, getting leverage, how to shed blocks. Our young LBs bring a lot of talent, but they are getting great coaching from Marinelli, Richards, Lee and it's time to include Bloom in the conversation.

No doubt Bloom deserves some credit....I should have worded it better.

I think your right I hadn't noticed

Much better than Eberflus.
I wanted him gone for a long time.
Not sure what some seen in him and wanted him for the DC.

Props to Bloom.

Whoever it is between bloom and Lee need to get a tone of credit

ok, i wasnt a fan of the hire, but he has them playing well. I dont know how much is hiim and how much is the talent. Either way.

Grumbles, I was wrong.

Honestly, I hadn't either, but was thinking about LVE scouting report and how a weakness was getting off blocks. Bloom was a DL coach in college, was assistant DE coach under Marinelli and had a solid rep as being a good teacher, before moving to assist Eberflus with the LBs. Our LBs are obviously getting great coaching from a number of different people.

"When Bloom has coached defensive ends and pass rushing outside linebackers in the past, one of the key points of focus has been the ability to get physical with the offensive tackle at the point of attack and then disengage to make a move around them. Average pass rushers get held up by linemen because they can’t shed blocks, but Bloom’s track record, and his time spent learning from Marinelli and Eberflus, suggests that he can teach the ability to shed a block."

Watching this play from Jaylon, that hard hand punch to keep the lineman off and make a play, definitely looks like the influence from a DL Coach.
