Good Coaches find ways to use the talents of their players to win. Our LBs are not bad. I mean, come on, use your heads here. Smith and LVE are among the best run and chase LBs in the entire league. If left to play that style of game, each of those guys are lights out. Lee is perhaps the smartest, the best LB in coverage, in the NFL and has been since the day he got there. The problem is that he's older now and his best years were wasted IMO. However, the point is that our LBs are not terrible. Our LBs are very talented but, they are not being played in a scheme that lends itself towards success, that puts their skills to best use.
They look bad because they are not being played in the right scheme, with the right personnel. This is the problem with most fans. We watch players and we see them play well. We also watch players and we see them play poorly. Now,, all of these guys were stars in college. Lots of them stars for other Pro teams or future stars for other Pro teams. That's scheme, that's personnel and that's timing. That's the difference. You see it all the time at the QB position but it happens at every position. That's what we are seeing with our team now, with our LBs. It does need to be fixed but it's not because they are not good players. It's because we need to fix the problem and play them to their strengths, rather then their weakness. I said this when we drafted LVE and Smith. Neither of them are MLBs in a 43 in the NFL because neither of them are physical enough. That's just my opinion.
