Time For a New Identity

Does the Patriots have an "identity"? No. They just win. Any way, any how.
They don't have this stupid philosophy "We do what we do because that's our identity". They morph into different type of a team game to game.
Sometimes even series to series within the same game.

You can have your head cryogenically frozen and put on a shelf next to Ted Williams.
And Walt Disney???
That could be... cool.
Get it?! Cool? Cryogenic?

I kill me...

Everyone is way too comfortable. No one minds going behind by 14. No one minds 2nd and long over and over and over again. Everyone has been paid and there is no real accountability from the bottom of the roster to the Owner. Everyone involved is pretty much OK with the status quo.

Sure they have an identity. You just described it yourself. They adapt and over come. The are very much like the military.

They also have the identity of accountability. They do not value their own players nearly as much as others do.

They also have the identity of a team that takes away what you do best. You can beat them but you will have to show that you can adapt as well.

They have identity out the wazoo.

Our identity is curiously enough almost the exact opposite. We value our own players to the extreme. We pay them years ahead for fear of loosing them. We are known to be stubborn and refuse to adapt what we do. We are known for having no accountability. The Owner is the GM. What more needs to be said.

If you want to call a non-identity their identity, that's fine. My point is you can't say they are a run first team or pass heavy team. You can't call them a ball control short passing or long ball team. You can't say they are a 4-3 or 3-4 defense etc.. etc. They morph into different type of team week to week.

I perceive our identity to be us always playing down to our opponents level.
Jets game comes to mind...

The Cowboys don't need a new identity they need a new head coach.
Yep. Just last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, it was “this team goes as Zeke goes”. Now it’s Dak. We are lucky to have two really good players. Now we need to get lucky again and get a better coach and staff.

dress like a woman and call yourself Betty? thats cool with me, im not here to judge.

Good Coaches find ways to use the talents of their players to win. Our LBs are not bad. I mean, come on, use your heads here. Smith and LVE are among the best run and chase LBs in the entire league. If left to play that style of game, each of those guys are lights out. Lee is perhaps the smartest, the best LB in coverage, in the NFL and has been since the day he got there. The problem is that he's older now and his best years were wasted IMO. However, the point is that our LBs are not terrible. Our LBs are very talented but, they are not being played in a scheme that lends itself towards success, that puts their skills to best use.

They look bad because they are not being played in the right scheme, with the right personnel. This is the problem with most fans. We watch players and we see them play well. We also watch players and we see them play poorly. Now,, all of these guys were stars in college. Lots of them stars for other Pro teams or future stars for other Pro teams. That's scheme, that's personnel and that's timing. That's the difference. You see it all the time at the QB position but it happens at every position. That's what we are seeing with our team now, with our LBs. It does need to be fixed but it's not because they are not good players. It's because we need to fix the problem and play them to their strengths, rather then their weakness. I said this when we drafted LVE and Smith. Neither of them are MLBs in a 43 in the NFL because neither of them are physical enough. That's just my opinion.

Sometimes l wish Jerry would sell the team. It's not like Jerry Junior is going to be any different. This organization needs a complete makeover, not window dressing...

You can always tell when someone spent his day watching ESPN. (Sigh)
