At what point did I say high draft pick or big splash receiver in free agency? I swear man… People on this board take **** and run with it.
You were talking about needing a Dez replacement.

Those don't come cheap. Sorry for replying to your words and adding context.

Romo disguised or masked a poorly built team for too long . It's Jerry who failed him. And it's Jerry who will continue to let him out there for one last gasp after another.

We have a strong core on offense in place and we're already seeing the effects and impact that makes. All that's left is to finish building the defense.

The Romo era had a legit shot in his early years with a fairly good defense and some talent on offense and one other shot in 2014 but Jerry cut that short early in his career with horrid drafts with Wade and then the injuries started to mount. By then the team Bill built was dismantling.

It's sad because Garrett has finally influenced a better built team with star studded offense but it was too late for a battered body which took too much beating in those lean years.

But Cowboy fans it's not over yet. Jerry is going to allow it to continue much longer than he should to the point where even the most diehard Romo supporters will see it's past time.

I've often been critical of Romo over the years but more so of the rest of the team and Jerry. The 8-8 years is when I begun to really see how valuable he was. It's been a very frustrating time for me as a lifelong Diehard , former season ticket holder for almost 4 decades and Cowboys Travel Club member since its induction in 1989 .

I truly hope Romo stays on with the Cowboys as he has expressed an interest in coaching. He has represented our franchise with the utmost class and dignity inspiring a youthful new generation of fans becoming the most over achieving talent perhaps in Cowboy history.

His name will be in the Ring of Honor for all to admire as the 4th QB inducted. Thanks Tony!!

The best two players on this team are an ongoing riddle wrapped in a puzzle lost in an enigma.

For so long, Tony Romo and Dez Bryant have been the Alpha and Omega of all Cowboys hopes. When both are upright and spry, they bleed throughout the roster, and put Dallas in elite conversations. They hide warts and stop stutters. They make everything seem OK on Sunday.

But upright and spry might as well be bingo numbers twirling in the big wheel lately. Getting these two simultaneously healthy and right has been the missing variable for too long. The Cowboys have been flailing hopelessly in the dark without them.

With Romo, it's been unavoidable. Through no fault of his own, the franchise has forever clung desperately by the threadiest of threads, relying on Romo for everything week in and week out. His back and clavicle health have carried the weight of the franchise for months now. Before that, it was a mixture of 95 percent brilliance with 5 percent Farvrian flings that sourly ended seasons marred by embarrassingly inept defensive teams. Mercifully, it looks like his eventual end will coincide with the completion of Dak Prescott's development, so limbo no more at QB soon.

Dez' career has been all over the place. Plays genius, acts the fool, he's hurt, he's not hurt, he's hurt, he's not hurt. He bought a monkey, he gave it away, he's in a money dispute with a random community leader, he settles, he dominates, he disappears, he's here at the facility, nobody knows where he is, he's happy and positive, he's screaming at Rich Dalrymple. It's got to be a 24-hour rollercoaster ride for the coaches with Dez. But when he's right, he's like the toughest mustang in the herd to corral for opponents.

Injuries are starting to mount for Dez, too, and that's not good news for a wide receiver. The end of Romo's career could very well coincide with the end of Dez', or at least the effective part of Dez as he appears to be aging fast. Witten, as well. Soon enough, this will be the Dak and Zeke Estravaganza, mixed with the next big-name receiver that comes through.

In the meantime, I'd love to see another run with Romo and Dez, together, doing that thing they do, with Witten aboard, too.

I don't want to see it end like this for them.
Dez is a clown, a hood prima Dona convinced he is up with the greats.
He is often injured. He cannot hold on to the ball? He's cap-slapping his mama. He talks like someone with no education and he has swagger and has only a few good years, if that.
His rep is more than his actual contributions.

Yet...when he told Greg Hardy to shut the mouth up, Dez became my hero. Standing up for his team and against a woman-beating idiot showed me some principle.
Get well soon, Dez. We want to see you be the best in the NFL.

Did they ever really have a chance to begin with? They've had one good year which viewed from a broader perspective was an aberration. Not only has the ship likely sailed, it's debatable whether or not it was ever in port.

Whoever takes over for Romo--and it looks like almost certainly it's Dak--will be walking into a very good situation. Young dominant line and young stud RB.
But they will need better WRs if Dez were to fade away.
Sterling Shepard would have looked good in Dallas.

As with almost all of Dez and Tony's years together, the team still has some work to do on defense.
But by getting a QB on the cheap, they should be able to build it faster.
I'm as big of a Romo supporter as there is. To the point of my father cracking jokes every time he's injured or has a bad play (even though he likes Romo too). I can't help but wonder if it's time to move on. This season is going to tell a lot from now until game 16+. Dak is going to face a very good Bengals team, GB team and possibly Eagles team. That should more than clarify if he's indeed ready or not. Then when Romo comes back, it's going to tell the other half of the story as well. If he's injured again or less effective than Dak, it will indeed be time to move on.

What is not being taken into account by many is Daks salary vs the typical QBs in the league. If Dak proves competent, the longer they wait, the less time there is to capitalize on a minimal salary for the QB position. If the transition is next year, that gives the team 2 years of full salary relief from Romo with an extra 20+ million in cap room to address the other holes in this team once the dead money is gone. I love the guy, but I love the Cowboys more. The rest of this season very well may show that it might be time to move on from him and fully capitalize on a 700k QB like the Seahawks did with Russell Wilson.

Dez went down awkwardly due to how he was tackled and now his injuries are mounting. It's football, it happens. It happens to most of them.

Time may have already run out on the Dez/Romo show. Neither player has been able to stay healthy the past 2 seasons and the way Dak is coming along Romo may never see the field again unless Dak gets hurt.
