we all know who the anti-Zimmer crowd is. but regardless of Parcells' imput, mike zimmer has done an outstanding job for the most part in picking up a new scheme. he studied and copied the TB defense a few years back and gave us the #1 ranked defense, using subpar talent at that...
i think Zimmer has a real shot at replacing BP when he leaves, moreso than Payton. Payton was picked up after losing his job with the Giants for - surprise - poor playcalling at inopportune times. sound familiar? let's take a hard look at which of our coordinators is the weak link...

Do we even know if Zimmer is indeed responsible for calling the majority of the plays. Peyton is calling the offensive plays, so that leads me to think that Parcells is doing alot of the Defensive Calls, dont know.

I think bringing Zimmer up as Head Coach would be a big mistake.

well both are on the field with Parcells. I'm sure he makes his suggestions.

Amen! Finally some people who appreciate Zimmer. Personal bias' aside there is one thing I know for sure and that is if Zimmer was as bad as all the GROZ people say no way would he be on Parcells staff. If Parcells thinks this much of him; then I say he is a pretty darn good coach.

All it is is people trying to find excuses for stuff. They cant fathom the fact that our defense was completely depleted of a pass rush, AND secondary last year. Not a good combination is it? I thank Zimmer for keeping us below 100 PA's every game. Hes a darn good coach.

Zimmer has done A LOT with very little over the years. He's a very good DC.

I think, ultimately, when this scheme is down pat, many will be glad he's still around. He's finally got some tools to work with.

If Zimmer was that bad a coach he would have been gone after year 1 of BP's reign. As much as I hated when he was the secondary coach, I have to say, he has done alot with whatever junk Jerry and the rest of the front office tried to pawn off as quality players.

Zimmer still hasn't convinced me that he can make adjustments during the game...When a team finds a weak link.....they can go after it all day long.

Zimmer also has shown me that he doesn't know how to confuse a QB.....his previous scheme was highschool....his blitzes packages pathetic. Too many times has a backup QB come in and looked like a all pro.

We look back at his previous #1 ranking....for some hope....but then all you have to do is look at the pathetic offences and backup QB's we played that year and realize it was all a mirage......Teams then weren't worrried about Tham and Carter and our WR's.

Zimmer is a good DC.....you have to be....if your in the NFL....but I would rank him in the bottom 3rd

Now....where is that front four pass rush?.....I missed it late Monday nite.....

Zimmer knows more about running a defense than you could dream of. Someone really needs to teach you a little about football.

and with those tools, he still managed a monumental meltdown...both games this season have been questionably game planned and called at best, and has been pretty bad in key situations...his history here is laced with 4th qtr meltdowns, defenses that produce little or no pressure on the QB and usually no ability to force turnovers even at an average rate

the guy is a lousy defensive coach...always has been, always will be

and how do you explain Greg Williams success in washington then? what sort of great talent have they assembled?

Players have to take responsiblity as well, Zimmer had the players in the right situation to make plays such as Roy Williams having a chance to make the int that bounced off his face mask which would have ended the game to claim that Zimmer has no clue is just not right coaches coach but players have to make the plays and fact is the players did not make the plays

Zimmers play calling nearly cost of the game against the Chargers. I am sure how we remember how Brees had no problems leading his team down field and all of us were sweatin it out with only seconds left in the game.

How many 4th quarter leads does this guy have to blow before people see he is not good at all.

Parcells went away from Zimmers so called best D to the 3-4. What does that tell you. We had a weak schedule in 03 with made our D look better then it really was. But 2004 showed Zimmer for who he is. So far 2005 is doing a good job of that to. Nearly blowin the lead against the Chargers and then his play calling blowing it against the Commanders.

A few more games like these 1st 2 and you can say good by to Zimmer after this year.
