Tyron Smith-has 1 yr left on his contract and counts over 17 million against the cap. With his long, injury history and the emergence of Tyler Smith, it's time to make the move. Unless, he takes a pay cut or they can find a trading partner, he is a release candidate. I've heard they can save close to 10 million as a June 1st cut.

Zeke Elliot-he was the Cowboy offense for the first few years of his career, but Garrett ran him into the ground and appears he end is here. Shell of his former self and has zero burst any longer. He wants to stay, but he is now a progress stopper that is holding the team back.

Dalton Shultz-I have gone back and fourth about him, as he was a huge part of the team's passing attack, but having Shultz as the team's #2 option means your offense just isn't good enough. He is a good player, but isn't worth an elite contract. We have a few good young options, draft upcoming has a deep class, maybe add a low level veteran to the group.
Yes, they most definitely have to move on from those three. I would also add Pollard and that is just a start. The Cowboys need to make a splash in FA hopefully with a blue chip player at DT. I wonder if Dak would do an extension at a Brady like number for the sake of adding talent. I would be requesting he do that imminently.

I'd bring Smith back for this year. We will need him at RT to start the year. I doubt Steel will be ready for the start of the season.

Dalton, Elliot, Maher should be gone...

Daron Payne is that splash they need to make. By shedding some of these salaries, it will become more feasible to accomplish.

those guys are not Shultz. Dak loves Shultz.
Agreed. I thought Ferguson was a nice find, but the idea that he can slide in and replace Schultz in the passing game is wishful thinking. And Hendershot is a JAG. I don't get the fascination with him.

We have to look at the entire pool of FA RBs in order to establish an economic cap value first, so here is the list.
1 Saquon Barkley
2 Josh Jacobs
3 Tony Pollard
4 Miles Sanders
5 David Montgomery
6 Jamaal Williams
7 Kareem Hunt
8 Damien Harris
9 Devin Singletary
10 Donta Foreman

Its a crowded room as you can see, and teams are finally starting to figure out RB values, so Pollards situation will be a very interesting situation as the off season and FA begins to unfold.
Wow there are some REALLY good backs in that list.

Let 77 retire a Cowboy and finish his deal. He actually played well at RT. If anything, he gives us a swing tackle.

Ferguson already has a significantly higher catch rate and yards per target than Schulz, and is only slightly behind Schulz in PFF score.

And costs a tenth what Schulz does.

Schulz's ypt this year was 6.5. Rico Gathers was 6.4. Move on.

That's great but has nothing to do with my post.

Zeke and Tyron should be June 1st cuts IMO. Thanks for your contribution and good luck but time to move on.
Let Shultz, LVE, Hooker and Brown all walk and use that money to go after FA's like JuJu Smith Shuster, DJ Chark, Dalvin Tomlinson, Juan Thornhill and Jamel Dean.
Don't overpay to keep Pollard and Wilson. I say that cuz we still haven't seen enough of Malik Davis or Markquese Bell.
Same on Hankins and Hilton don't overpay.
