He goes in for a MRI tomorrow after injuring his leg today at practice. It’s not a matter of if anymore, it’s a matter of when.

He hasn’t played an entire season since 2015 missing over 30 games during this span including 6 games last year.

We can’t count on him anymore. And if we do without finding a suitable replacement it places our season at risk without a blindside OT.

He had a great career. Time to move on. Strictly business, nothing personal.

CZ needs to relax.

Tyron is still elite LT and not going anywhere.

Move on to what?

I agree the team should've been looking to replace him sooner rather than later, but that replacement isn't on the roster.

Once again, we're witnessing the reactive - rather than proactive - nature of the Jones boys front office.

He's goes to the bench a lot because he's unable to play, but otherwise I agree.

He's elite when healthy. It's the "when healthy" part that has become an issue, and it won't improve with age as many of us here know personally.

They had the chance to draft Rashawn Slater last year. That would have meant passing on Micah. Can't get upset about that one.

We have been spoiled by our LT play for nearly two decades.
Flo Adams a small blip of Doug Free-who played ok at first then Tyron.
I agree with you in the mindset some have.
This is a very tough position to get a lo g term guy at
It's not a position you can get like Rb and plug and play. It's a position like QB that gets over drafted early in the draft cause most teams need a good one.

Yes, Dallas should be proactive and take LT a bit more seriously but it's not a position that has a lot of very good to elite talent coming out of the draft. It takes luck to even have good ones actually be in that draft class when you are picking relatively high.

Like @RS12 posted. We had a chance at Slater. That would of cost us a dynamic playmaker in Parsons. Is that worthy it?

we should have moved on from him 3 or 4 years ago. my theory is that around or after the 7th yr we should start looking for a new LT, Erik williams and Flozell both started falling apart after their 7th year

I heard he rubbed a little dirt on it and said he would be fine.

I may have dreamt that though.

It was time to draft Tyron's replacement 3 years ago.

This may be the year to just go with one of the young guys and let the chips fall where they may. If the Cowboys finish 5 -12 they may get a shot at a LT in the draft.

But I have a feeling they will move Tyler Smith out to LT and McGovern to LG.

One thing we all knew is it was only a matter of time before Tyron Smith got injured.

Im thinking a serious car accident had a little to do with Big E's issues.

Can we restructure and make him the swing tackle?

Not really, all restructuring does is move money from now to later on in the contract. So maybe he costs 5million less today, but next year you’ll have a 20m$ backup player.

What would be better would be to extend him, that’ll lower this year and next year’s cap hits… but then do you really want to do that?

There is nearly 0 chance he is on this roster for the 2023 season.
