I'm going to drop the homer hat and try and be as unbiased as possible. I know I won't like the results but this is what I get:
Sun., Sept. 11 @ San Diego 3:15 p.m.
LOSE 0-1
I gotta believe that San Diego's season wasn't a fluke like the Bears sudden turnaround a few seasons ago. There are too many young guys on the Chargers that will only get better. That new Cowboys D is going to get a nice test right out of the starting gate.
Mon., Sept. 19 WASHINGTON 8:00 p.m.
WIN 1-1
Joe Gibbs' comeback probably won't be better than .500 until at least 2006. We'll win at least one of these. While our defense tries to discover itself, our new strength, our offense, will face a tough test against the Skins D but minus some of their starters from last year, we should pull it off.
Sun., Sept. 25 @ San Francisco 3:05 p.m.
WIN 2-1
Easiest game of the season right here. The Cowboys will get some confidence as they have their first winning record of the season.
Sun., Oct. 2 @ Oakland 3:15 p.m.
WIN 3-1
Close game, could go either way. If our D doesn't catch up fast, this could be a shoot-out. Suddenly, people start to ask if the Cowboys are back after a 3-1 start!
Sun., Oct. 9 PHILADELPHIA 3:15 p.m.
LOSE 3-2
We're still not as good as Philly. Back to reality after an embarrassing loss to the Eaglets.
Sun., Oct. 16 NY GIANTS Noon
WIN 4-2
Best to play the Giants early while Eli is still trying to find valuable experience and hook up with his new weapons. The Giants have a nice offense but our rookie Ware reminds Giants fans of LT that day.
Sun., Oct. 23 @ Seattle 3:05 p.m.
LOSE 4-3
Holmgren is a man on a mission in what may be his last season. The Seahawks are a good veteran squad that takes the young Cowboys roster to task.
Sun., Oct. 30 ARIZONA Noon
WIN 5-3
Could be a closer game if the Cards don't throw Warner out there. Bill Parcells can sniff weakness and he'll let the wolves go after Warner. This will be a great opportunity to see how much pressure that new 3-4 can bring.
Mon., Nov. 14 @ Philadelphia 8:00 p.m.
LOSE 5-4
Close one but Philly is still too much for the Cowboys, especially if TO comes back. If TO doesn't play this year, the Cowboys probably split one.
Sun., Nov. 20 DETROIT Noon
LOSE 5-5
Detroit makes our defense look like last year's squad when one of the league's best new offenses gains hundreds of yards like it's the greatest show on turf. Our only hope is that Harrington continues to stink it up and that Garcia is no longer that annoying west coast pest he was on the 49ers.
Thur., Nov. 24 DENVER 3:15 p.m.
WIN 6-5
The struggling Cowboys bounce back after some disappointing losses and show Denver that the Browns defense sucked when it was in Cleveland, and stinks the same in Denver.
Sun., Dec. 4 @ NY Giants Noon
LOSE 6-6
The Giants start coming together as young Eli matures and Coughlin's men start believing. We'll probably split with the Giants and I think the second game will be the one we lose.
Sun., Dec. 11 KANSAS CITY 3:15 p.m.
LOSE 6-7
Dick Vermeil goes out on in a blaze of glory in his final year but unlike Parcells, he knows he has the roster that can go far in the Playoffs. The Cowboys have a chance to win this one especially if Holmes and Green start having problems this year, but you gotta figure the Chiefs can finally do something about that awful defense of theirs.
Sun., Dec. 18 @ Washington Noon
LOSE 6-8
As lost as Gibbs looks, the man still has enough god-given coaching to at least split the series. Commanders fans riot and destroy the town as they beat the team that had (female dog) slapped them for so many years as of late. They're not in the Playoffs, and the Cowboys aren't going either, but it's another frustrating day when opponents feel like they've won the Super Bowl after beating the legendary Cowboys.
Sat., Dec. 24 @ Carolina Noon
LOSE 6-9
Carolina will be back to its Super Bowl form. With a healthier team and some key free agent signings, Carolina will contend with Philly for the NFC title game. Cowboys don't stand a chance.
Sun., Jan. 1 ST. LOUIS 7:30 p.m.
WIN 7-9
All tough losses for the Cowboys, but luckily they play the Rams in what will probably be Mike Martz's last year.
OVERALL RECORD: 7-9
