Is there a better time to trade Greg Ellis than right now? I really like Ellis as a player, but didnt care for all of his whining and the way he handled his contract concerns. That aside he definitely overachieved last year, and should have some sort of trade value to the right team. We should move Spencer in as the starter and trade Ellis. Could Parcells have an interest after all he is the one that found a way to lengthen his career by moving to outside linebacker. Perhaps we could package Ellis with 1 of our #1 picks and move up a little. I am not really in favor of trading both #1's to get McFadden, but I really thinks Rogers-Cromarte will be a star in the NFL so maybe we can just move up enough to get him then maybe Limas Sweed or another wr.

Why on earth would you want to trade him after he just got more money and he is still playing at a high level.

You would get peanuts for him.

We have three legitimate pressure players now, we should be looking to add more not dump one.

I don't know about trading but I would think about putting him back at DE.

We finally get a real pass rush so now we should trade Ellis? Nah.

This may be in the works - the plays that Bowen got last year were pretty much all in pass rush situations -- Ellis should take those plays and Spencer -- who looked very solid against the Giants -- would take increased snaps at OLB

Someone would really have to overvalue him and offer more than he's worth to make a trade. Right now he is productive and cheap, no reason to make a deal that isn't weighed heavily in your favor.

spencer has to get on the field now. either Ellis plays DE, or i would trade him. he is not not, and never will be a real LB. get your three pressure players on the field.

Very good point, but there is no guarentee he will continue where he left off or stay healthy. He is only getting older, this will probably be the last chance to try and get anything for him. Again, we have spencer waiting in the wings who I think can step in and wreak some havok.

and if spencer gets hurt, we lost at least the depth ellis could have provided and we now rely on some scrub no name cause someone else had to go trade anything we have of value vs. keeping him.

Even though I don't have an opinion on whether to trade the crybaby or not. I guess it wouldn't bother me one way or the other. BUT, the Bengals were ready to give up a 3rd and 5th in this years draft for a lazy, out of shape Rogers(Lions DT). A player who has under achieved as of late.

Would you make that trade for Ellis?

Even if Spencer beats him out in camp, he'd still be good depth. I could understand it if he'd had a bad year last year, but he had a very good year. No reason to move him at this point.

I'd just let him finish his career here and be done with it.

Teams that are on the cusp of reaching the SB pick up players like Ellis. We are THAT team!

Good grief, the man came off a career year, is the only defensive end in the 1998 draft to have proven to be worth a damn long term (See Andre Wadsworth, Grant Wistrom and Vonnie Holiday) and has quietly moved into the Cowboy record books among the all-time sack leaders. Give it a rest.

Actually, this is an interesting point. They just lost out on Justin Smith. They might actually give up something.

guess it would depend on what was offered, however, I believe he is more valuable to us then what teams would give us in a trade.
