Do we really need another 6th or 7th round pick? Chances are that only this year's 1st, 2nd and 3rd round picks will make the team. The latter picks will have a difficult time making the team unless someone gets injured in camp. So no, I'm not interested in trading Ellis for some late round draft choice to get cut or claimed from the practice squad by some other team.

I can agree with that unless it was Cleve giving us Bodden.

Dont forget the D-package with Spencer/ Ellis & Ware in at same time, which was very effective

If Wade can get some D-backs that can actually cover, his creativity level will go higher and used more often......

cant touch the receivers after 5........its all bout' getting to the QB....as the Gints did late in the year very well

Trading Ellis is self-defeating seeming the supposed missing ingredient in the Cowboy locker room is ample veteran leadership to temper the youthful vigor and naivety.

Greg Ellis and Jason Ferguson were all that defense had in terms of veteran leadership experience which is why Zach Thomas was brought in as a lockerroom moralist as much as an athlete.

Ellis stays, if nothing else he is a liaison between Thomas and the youngsters until Thomas knows the team better.

As close as we are now, you certainly don't give up quality players who make significant contributions unless you are getting something back in return that will make you better right now.

NO! keep Greg Ellis. Ellis is a smart player; he converted to OLB in a 3-4 after spending his entire career in the NFL as a DE in a 4-3. And up until that injury he was playing very well, not to mention the year he had last year.

Spencer and Ellis are both 4-3 DE's playing as OLBs in a 3-4. Spencer is still learning the position. Besides Ellis would be solid backup is Spencer takes over.

No reason to trade him.

He's still not that big of a cap hit and for all of his complaining, he still played at a pretty high level.

I would like to see him moved to the backup role. He'd be a bit pricey for a backup, but since he's so good at sacking the passer, he's worth it. Plus, if either Ware or Spencer got hurt, we could then just insert Ellis into the starting lineup. It wouldn't be ideal, but it's still a solid backup plan.

Let him keep whining but by all means, unless we are offered extremely good value ( minimum round 2 pick ) keep him. He played fantastic last year. He should play good next year as well, even if he becomes disgruntled again.

If someone wants to give us a mid 2nd rounder I'd listen.

Otherwise, we are contenders and we can't just give away a 12-sack player with a reasonable contract for peanuts even if he is a PITA in the offseason.

Why on earth would you want to trade him after he just got more money and he is still playing at a high level.

You would get peanuts for him.

We have three legitimate pressure players now, we should be looking to add more not dump one.

You would get more than peanuts for a guy that went to the probowl and had 11 sacks in ten games.

This league puts a premium on pass rushers and he was one of the better ones this past season.

That being said i would demand a first or forget it.

He is in his 30s and one year removed from an achilles injury. I think the interest in him would be very high, just not the offers.

The bottom line is we need ellis. I hope we find a 4th pass rusher somewhere in the draft to go with ellis, ware and spencer. I thought hatcher would have had a breakout this past season, I hope he does this year. He has the tools.

Ellis would bring a 4th round pick best case -- probably a 5th. No thanks.

He and Ware were our 2 best players on D last year. Not a coincidence, IMO, that the defense played far better when he finally started playing.

I think Ellis value to the team is more than what we could get in a trade. He is an older player on the downhill side of his career what do you think you could get in trade for him?
