They’ll probably pick someone up after final cuts.Cowboys will leave Oxnard after the Aug. 10 practice and then head to Denver for joint practices with the Broncos before their preseason matchup on Aug. 13. It has been predicted that Dallas would prefer to not sign a veteran WR until they leave Oxnard, so they can get the rooks/young WRs a bunch of snaps to see what they have with them, and who, if any, could make the team or practice squad vs being released.
Now that they've had a good look, do you think they will add a vet WR before the trip to Denver, or wait until camp resumes at the Star?
optimistic
what kind of drama queen comment is that? You get your boo boo feelings hurt?
John Wick is a one man army
So the guys we currently have under contract can't get it done? Okay prove it. Prove to me they can't get it done. Show me some game footage of our current guys struggling.I don't care when they do it as long as they do it. The idea that a team may go into the season with a 3rd round rookie draft pick from a small school, Noah Brown and a bunch of guys who have never or barely ever played behind CeeDee and think that is a smart way to construct an NFL roster is remarkable. To do so knowing your first game is against a team that you could not run on and threw the ball against 58 times last year in week 1 is just mind boggling.
So you made that part up too from my comment about what is and isn't a smart way to construct a roster? Not at all. I just figure that someone who sounds so certain we’re gonna fail wouldn’t waste time watching the games.
So using that line of thinking we should never bring in any free agent. What did we just bring in Barr for? Why bring in a swing tackle, let's wait until they prove they can't do the job. Why did we bring in all 3 of Kearse and Hooker and Kazee last year? Why didn't we wait until we saw how everyone else at safety did or to PROVE they couldn't get it done? The idea is to whenever possible make sure guys prove they can in fact get it done and to minimize question marks. It's to construct a roster that puts you in the best position to win and to be as certain as possible (because you can never be certain) that you won't have a problem or weakness. When you have a potential weakness you sure it up as best you can whether that be via draft or free agency and the earlier you do it the more options are available to you and the more time for those players to learn the system. We brought in Washington in part because we knew we had a weakness. Was he the right guy? Maybe, maybe not, but he is also hurt now so even that vet minimum attempt to help sure up the position is of no value for week 1.So the guys we currently have under contract can't get it done? Okay prove it. Prove to me they can't get it done. Show me some game footage of our current guys struggling.
The way some fans jump the gun is just mind boggling, to me.

Wow, again a bizarre assumption on your point. Do you sleep with a Jerry Jones doll?We all form OPINIONS, based on what we see and hear. My OPINION? You SOUND like someone who considers themselves more competent than those immersed in it for a living, and the implication is that the Cowboys won’t succeed. Knowing it’s pointless kinda takes away from the enjoyment, doesn’t it?
My reading comprehension is fine. You sound triggered.Wow, again a bizarre assumption on your point. Do you sleep with a Jerry Jones doll?
I do like that you don't have to actually read what someone writes, but can instead decide what they are actually thinking based on a post on the internet. It must make you think you are right quite often to take a statement and twist it into whatever you think best supports your view point. If you can't differentiate between a comment about what puts us in a better position to win versus having no chance to win or being pointless you need help with your reading comprehension
Deadly??? We need a couple to step up from that group just to have a slightly below NFL average receiving corps. If you are down late in a game you aren't playing both Zeke and Pollard. So your listed group has Lamb, a TE and a RB on the field. If the OL is struggling (which is also a concern right now with a rookie, Biadasz, a hopefully improving Steele and hopefully healthy T Smith) Zeke is in and in pass protection. Teams are doubling Lamb in that situation and assuming they cover your whole listed "group" one on one.I think we have several good weapons in the passing game arsenal—Lamb, Shultz, Pollard, Elliott. We need what, 2 or 3 more to be deadly? To me, the question is, how many can we get from this group?
Brown
Huston
Tolbert
Vasher
Fohoko
Drummond
Turbin
Ferguson
McKeon
Viable, of course, but many people have started paying more attention to potential studs already on the roster. Could we find someone to plug in that would benefit us more than what we already have on the roster? Until they bring someone else in, should we assume they like the potential of the guys we already have? Since we’re all just speculators here, is it possible, despite a 27 year Super Bowl drought, that they MIGHT have better judgement? Just sayin’, no malice. Hell, I argue with brother. Quite often! So using that line of thinking we should never bring in any free agent. What did we just bring in Barr for? Why bring in a swing tackle, let's wait until they prove they can't do the job. I agreeI'm hoping we don't see an acquisition. I just don't see the a great situation sitting out there waiting for someone to pounce. Honestly if we do sign a vet WR I would take it as a really bad sign.

So what if they don't step up? That is the problem and why you build a roster to minimize that potential. Or what if Lamb gets hurt? The goal is to protect yourself from the negative "what if" scenarios wherever possible, not to pray all goes well unless you have no other choice.
