Joe Schad ‏@schadjoe1h
Timmy Jernigan, 6-2, 298 pounds, is described as "disruptive" and "violent" and "relentless" by ESPN's Scouts, Inc.

Timmy Jernigan is rated as the #7 overall player by ESPN's Scouts, Inc.

-Another guy I expect to be a major possibility for the Cowboys in Round 1. Solid fit as a 3-tech.

I like Jernigan...just not at 16/17. A LOT of guys would have to be off of the board before I considered Jernigan at 17.

And what is Scout's Inc thinking ranking him the #7 overall player??? I'd say he's closer to being ranked the #7 DT than he he is the #7 overall prospect.

Tuitt
Nix
Hageman
Donald
Quarles
Jernigan

Agree 100% I'd even put him Ego & Sutton to be honest

I'll concede that he doesn't have that explosive up the field first step that we apparently crave in a 3-tech prospect, but I think you guys are wildly underestimating this guy.

He's got the attributes to be a dominator in the running game. A bully with violent hands and a tremendous anchor who commands a double team. Put it this way... he's a plus run defender (even for a 1-tech, with much more pass rushing potential than most 1-tech's). Not a flawless prospect, and not a flawless fit, but I don't see where the extreme anti-Jernigan campaign is coming from.

Well purely speaking for myself my anti-Jernigan-ness is strictly based on drafting him before the 3rd round. If we can get him in the third I'm in.

He weighs like 295. Unless he's already started adding 10-15 pounds I don't see how he's going to be an impact 1 tech in the nfl. Not saying he won't be a very useful player, just not the impact player I would like out of a top 20 pick. Jernigan would be great value in the 2nd for us, but of course he wont last that long

He is being way overrated right now. The DT class is pretty deep this year, He's a 2nd rounder to me.

only reason we should take a DT in the first round is if all the really good pass rushing DE's are gone.

A player should be evaluated based off his body of work, not just one game anyways. He was a good player all season, but not quite the production you'd expect from a player with such high praise. Regardless, I think he'll still be a good player in the NFL, but not "top 20 pick" good.

Wouldn't touch him until the 3rd. Cannot get the image of him sucking wind on the sideline out of my mind. I know he was in their for a large percentage of plays prior to that; still, he's 298, not 330, and that was a very extended period of very important time. Gilbert Brown conditioning in a Henry Melton body.

You do know he had the flu that week?, And FSU was having trouble rotating players in against Auburn's fast paced offense

I honestly did not know he had the flu!! That does change my perspective quite a bit. I could definitely understand his conditioning issues if the dude is having the flu. Thank you!

Donald's level of competition was also extremely sub par compared to everyone else on this list though. Between his size & level of conpetition I'm frightened to death of this kid being drafted.
