You have NO CLUE of WHAT you are talking about. When I told the waitress that I had ordered them "lightly cooked", guess what? Another server brought them out YELLOW, NOT OVERDONE. I also have been to Outback MANY, MANY, MANY times during the YEARS, which I have gotten my fries lightly cooked, NOT overdone as they usually come. So shut up, because you have NO CLUE of WHAT THE HECK YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT!!
Please go away.

I don't stiff them either. I complain to the manager and they usually make it right.

What did you leave out of curiosity? If you left 15%-20%, you are CAUSING the service to be poor by paying someone to be lazy and non-caring. I hope you only tipped like 10% at the MOST. Did the server even APOLOGIZE for the mistakes? If the waiter didn't, personally I would have left nothing due to forgetting my salad without apologizing even.

I really hope that you didn't leave a good tip(18%-20%+) for poor service to ENCOURAGE that type of service to happen again and again?

My wife is the high maintenance one when it comes to eating out.<SNIP>

Your entire post sounds eerily familiar to how my wife and I approach things. I'm very much like you in that respect and our wives are very much alike. We've had many a discussion about the tip amount at the end of a meal. :D

"I know that, Mr. Man! They also called them serials. I'm not stupid ya know... Anyway, my favorite was Rocketman, and once it was a no breaks chapter. The bad guy stuck him in a car on a mountain road and knocked him out and welded the door shut and tore out the brakes and started him to his death, and he woke up and tried to steer and tried to get out but the car went off a cliff before he could escape! And it crashed and burned and I was so upset and excited, and the next week, you better believe I was first in line. And they always start with the end of the last week. And there was Rocketman, trying to get out, and here comes the cliff, and just before the car went off the cliff, he jumped free! And all the kids cheered! But I didn't cheer. I stood right up and started shouting. This isn't what happened last week! Have you all got amnesia? They just cheated us! This isn't fair! HE DIDN'T GET OUT OF THE COCK - A - DOODIE CAR!"

my wife takes the cake when it comes to eating out. The only thing she eats out is chicken, BBQ pork, and maybe hamburger steak but it has to be well done. If it comes back even with a hint of pink in the meat she sends it back and the restaurant does not have the chance to make it right. Something about seeing raw meat (it is not raw but after the first 10 yrs of marriage I just stopped trying to convince her otherwise) turns her stomach and they only have one shot. I have had her grab the bill when I am getting ready to pay it because she wants to make a point by leaving less of a tip than I would. Many times I just wished I would have stayed home and made a sandwich. And God help the waitress that rolls her eyes for one of her special request. I have learned just to sit back and enjoy the show.

I did not pay the bill that day. My step daughter did and since she was an ex server I doubt she penalized the waiter. I did complain to the manager tho. . I was very patient that day since it was Mothers Day, it was great being with my step daughter and grandson and wife, and the restaurant was in total chaos. Losing reservations, people complaining, nobody being served. I usually make the comment that the waiter forgot his ridallin that day and this day he apparently did. I just made sure that we were not charged for what we did not eat. The manager made it right.

My 90 yr old father in law has lived with us the past couple of years and now eating out is even more exciting. He is as picky as his daughter is so now I get it in stereo when we go out. I never get thru a meal without one of them complainign about something. The beans don't have enought sugar, the bread is too doughy (that is my favorite one) the chicken had too much pepper, My God! A movie crew should follow us around. It is a trip....

Losing reservations part has NOTHING to do with the server. As far as the waiter goes, did he APOLOGIZE for forgetting your salad and the appetizer being late? I am just curious if he was caring or not?

I did not address it with the server. I addressed it with the manager. She was his boss and apologized for the service. I did not take it personally. Like I said, the restaurant was in chaos on Mothers day. I just think the guy got totally overwhelmed. I had more of a problem with restaurant that day than I did the waiter. Don't lose my reservations when I called 3 months before to make them and I am the first one on the list.

Maybe he figures there are enough -- shall we say -- excitable people like yourself in this world to counterbalance the good tips he leaves for questionable service.

Riddle me this: Do you often struggle to find meaning in your life?

PLEASE don't act like Ms. Picky Gourmet... you are at Outback. Understand where you are, how cheap you are, and how if you are going there you really don't understand much about a decent meal in the first place.

Wow. You sound like a cheap ******* who wants to find something wrong with his meal so that you don't have to pay.

We've got folks like that where I live. They order, wolf down a good half of what they had then complain it wasn't right so they get a fresh plate.

We call them, politely, homeless.

What does this have to do with being cheap? Secondly, I don't want anything for free. I just want my food the **EXACT** WAY I ORDERED IT!! With the fries being overdone, even my husband noticed how dark they were. I noticed it literally 2 seconds from our waitress putting the plate in front of me. This was a DUH mistake. Instead of being a RESPONSIBLE, CARING server to have told the cooks the fries were very overdone instead of lightly cooked by her COMPARING the written order to the plate, she didn't care and just brought out anything just like McDonald's cashiers do. Since we were TIPPING our server and since our server actually brought us our food, shouldn't the server **EARN** their tip and CARE a bit more about what the heck is IN THEIR HANDS they are BRINGING YOU?

I didn't get anything for free because of the fries. That's just stupid to say. WHY would ANYONE expect something for free for overdone fries?

We aren't cheap to tip 25%-30%. Even 20% isn't a cheap tip. I would say 10%-15% is cheap.

That's your opinion about what a decent meal is. I hate overdone fries. That has nothing to do with being cheap. It doesn't matter WHERE you are, you can get the service you want to. It ALL DEPENDS ON THE SERVER!!
