Titans fire Mularkey

No chance Garrett welcomes the threat of a competent HC replacement on staff.

You may be right JohnsKey...but they do have Saban and the Dolphins staff in common though so who knows if there is a relationship there already.

I get where you are going but there is a key difference in my mind as to why those coaches won't get fired.

Payton and Tomlin are SB winners and Quinn is the defending NFC champ/SB runner up.

I could be wrong but I don't think mularkey has been remotely close to that at any level.

I’m beginning to wonder if this board thinks that Payton, Tomlin and Quinn should also be fired.

Because we can’t tolerate mediocrity or something.

The thing is, Mularkey has had the team on an upswing.

Plus Tomlin and Payton haven’t been to the Super Bowl in almost a decade.

I thought they announced after the win vs kc that they gave him a 2yr extension?
guess it was only for 2wks...wow.
It's always a great idea to give your HC a contract extension right before you fire them.

It almost ranks up there with Jerry agreeing to part ways with his HC right after winning back to back super bowls..........almost I said.

He declined their two year extension offer. He either wanted more control or money.

The underlying motive is still the important part here. Titans see an opportunity to get better and will try to seize upon it.

Jerry lacks that vision.

I agree with you that Jerry lacks vision. He needs to fire Garrett and move in a new direction. But you lose all credibility when trying to prop up the Tennessee Titan's owner as a shining beacon for how a owner should manage their prospective team. The Titans will be looking to hire their 4th different HC since firing Jeff Fisher back in 2011. That doesn't really strike me as a well run franchise.

Yes, because Quinn, Payton and Tomlin have accomplished what Garrett has done in 7 years.

Although if 2016 is the high point of Quinn's career and they get worse from here missing playoffs, etc., I suspect he won't be around 8 seasons in Atlanta either.

All I said is Tennessee, if they really are making a run at McDaniels sees a chance to improve what they have. It's actually damning for Jones that even a boob organization like Tennessee can see this but Jerry can't.

Point... missed.

Badly.

I'm sorry ,I don' t understand what your getting at. Payton and Tomlin have both won a superbowl . quinn was in the super bowl last year.Garrett has trouble getting the cowboys in the playoffs on a consistent basis and has only one playoff win.I actually still like Garrett but my patience is starting to wear thin.

Titans are going to hire McDaniel who is the hottest coaching candidate and was going to regardless of Titans success or lack-thereof.

They want a guy to take Mariotta to higher level of play.
For all the good Mularkey did Mariotta wasn't very good.

I’d be interested. He’s a good assistant.

Took Titans from 2-14 to divisional playoffs appearance in 2 years. Can’t have done that bad a job.
I'd like to see the cowboys hire mularkey too. What is the name of his offensive scheme "exotic smashmouth"? All I want to know is if the cowboys have the ball on the goal ine,
Will he have enough common sense to actually run the ball once and not pass it three
Consecutive times.

I’m talking about Mularkey, but whatever.

More specifically that his firing was because the Titans value winning. Well, they were on the upswing over his tenure.
