This is what I would do if/when Tyler Smith fully recovers from injury:

LT: Tyler Smith (back to his college position)
LG: Cooper Beebe (back to his college position)
C: Brock Hoffman (more accurate snapper and fires out better during each snap)
RG: T.J. Bass (back to his college position)
RT: Tyler Guyton (back to his college position)
This makes the most sense...which means we won't even consider it.

It’s so disappointing.

I was so happy when Steele’s deal was announced. A guy who worked hard and won a starting role being rewarded for it.

But as soon as pen was put to paper it’s been all downhill. Now he looks like a bum out there.

The team needs to get out of that deal as soon as possible.

What a shame.
Still, way too much money.

If Steele had been drafted by another team theres no way they would have given him that money as a free agent, but that’s how this team is run.

Decisions like this are why they claim they can’t afford a running back, etc.

I think that’s a great scenario. I doubt coach Jerry agrees.

I mean, we're the Dallas Cowboys. I want better than Bass and Hoffman out there on the OL. As a plan B, sure but we shouldn't be settling for either of those guys going forward.

Bro was physical. It has been desperately missing from this team. Dishing out punishment instead of taking it.

Cowboys might shuffle the OL around next year. Bass can play!

This is not a surprise.

it’s not new

we said this last year this is not a surprise it’s not new we said this last year whenever bass and Hoffman on the field in an extended time

they did a really good job ..

I don’t know about anyone else I said this at the bye week , when I first saw Guyton go down the first time and had to go out and Tyler Smith had to move the left tackle and bass came in at left guard yes line looks good and I’m with you the shuffling should be Tyler moved to left tackle bass BB Hoffman and Guyton and let Steele either be cut or restructure something small and be the swing ,,,

Drives me crazy when we’re having a lost year and our coaches have an opportunity to make these changes now and play around with them to see how old they do the rest of the year I don’t know what they’re afraid of and I know who’s afraid to put Tyler Smith at left tackle when it should’ve been done already and I’m not saying it needs to be full-time but with Martin leaving and I don’t know if Steele is going to still be struggling but with Guyton if we don’t see the growth at left tackle put them out right tackle save the money by cutting steel that should’ve been done this year right now we’re in a losing streak but we all saw it in little sample size but it was working.

In my opinion we have the pieces on this team to assemble a really good line without drafting more lineman

Get the right often to pieces in here as far as the coaching staff let them work with it let’s fill the real holes we have because I don’t want them reaching on another tackle we have some players you don’t need all pros at every position you guys that are physical and can play the position well, you can work with that you do not need another Martin it would be nice but you can work with those two dudes...

I remember during the off season many in here saying the Cowboys didn't have any OL depth.

The usual, they are unproven...you can't say for sure they will work out...they can't be counted on...and my favorite was, the failures of past OL meant the current were bad players.

Some of us kept saying yes. Turns out, we were all right.

Why I saw 2 to 3 games last year where either both or one of them are in and they played very well even Half minutes center wasn’t bad I mean so you have other things you can do like BB over the right guard Hoffman at center but my first lineup I think that might be the best one who cares if Taylor Smith finish his career is left taco or something I just see Sarah players that you can work with I think most Fanbase think if they’re not all Bro’s then I’ll go to pho bowl Internet superstars they can’t work and I think that you could have three deep of talent level being A rated, and they be very wrong they don’t look around the league...

I thought Bass played well with his opportunities last year and yesterday. Definitely should get an opportunity to earn a starting spot. Personally, I would cut Steele, draft a guard or OT then find a way to get the best 5 on the field. Guyton could swing to RT, and depending on if the Cowboys draft a guard or tackle you can use Tyler Smith's position flex.
It would be great to cut Steele, but cutting him leaves us 13.5M in dead cap. He's playing better than last year.

Tyler Smith is an all-pro caliber G. You don't move him.

Guyton needs time. He only had 72 snaps in college at LT. If we move him, it will be replace Steele after the 2025 season.

G is a need, but so are WR, RB, LB, DT, S, and DE. My guess is TJ Bass is going to be Zach Martins replacement.

This is what I would do if/when Tyler Smith fully recovers from injury:

I like it!

Great post and great idea. What gets me mad is how slow and stubborn our team is to make SENSIBLE and obvious corrections. Anyone who watches football could see that Martin was killing the run game. He's a HOF guard and I loved his game but he's done. I can't understand how even a nutcase like Jerry would insist his coaches leave Martin in the lineup to the detriment of the team.

I would be good with this. I would be fine with Beebe at center also, remember he was getting snaps from his mom in the backyard trying to get used to playing center. I would also be fine with moving steele into a Guard position to see how that goes. Right now with the injuries they have no choice but to play these guys and I am just hoping we get to see these guys play multiple games and see if it goes as well.
