What? Over? Did you say 'over'? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!...

It ain't over now, 'cause when the goin' gets tough, the tough get goin'. Who's with me? Let's go! Come on!

hehe:grin:

McCarthy should have just said this.

Cooper and Collins were not the glue holding the team together and Gregory was not the staple of the defense.

Hey Silly, the Germans didn't bomb Pearl Harbor. A country called Japan done that.

i think MM's performance last season upset Jerry so much Payton is already here. Dont think MM sees the handwriting on the wall. If we have as bad a season as the direction we are going dictates after he is let go MM will be as much in demand as Garrett.
At the very least Payton is living rent free in Jerry Jones mind currently

How many coaches come and go before you realize it’s not the problem?
Things like refusing to hire coaches who may potentially steal any credit from Jerry is something I hope goes away with him...and a guy like Payton is brought in to supposedly mitigate the damaging loss of Jerry and his input.

My small ray of hope that things get better under the kid.

The difficult part wasn’t letting these 2 contract underachievers go…..the difficult part is getting better replacements……which in these cases are players that show up every game

The problem with that mentality is we were down by 14 to kickoff the game. We aren't hoping to be as good as last year. We are hoping to take a step forward, past the competition.
This team was stuck in 'cant get past division round mode' for years under Garrett.

McCarthy was brought here to fix that.

Folks can line up excuses and/or reasons all they like, but the bottom line is that hasn't happened as of yet, nor have we gotten particularly close.

Not really saying it's on him as much as he doesn't appear to be the guy that is able to overcome this front office in order to win. If that person exists at all.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy admitted that Amari Cooper and La’el Collins’ decisions were difficult ones

The head coach confirmed what most Cowboys fans were frustrated with by saying that the goal this offseason was to keep as many in-house players as possible. But McCarthy also doesn’t want Dallas fans to panic. He said that there’s plenty of time left for the front office to make more moves and decisions before the 2022 season starts. He gave a football comparison to explain the offseason decisions so far:

“We’re still in the first 15 (minutes of the offseason). The first quarter is not even completed yet. If people are frustrated, well, sometimes games are a little frustrating. We’ve definitely come out with a run the football and take care of your own mindset. Outside of our own roster, we have a mindset where we’re not going to throw the ball deep with every snap. How’s that for a football analogy?’’

Well, Mike. Seems like Dallas is down by a lot after that “first quarter.” Will three more quarters of the offseason even be enough to get the team to where it needs to be? I guess that depends on what decisions are yet to be made. Based on the throwing the ball deep part of the quote, it seems the front office has no plans to throw big money at anyone outside of the organization. How did that go for the Joneses in the past? Seems ignorant to have faith in these next few quarters.

but the first 15 minutes is when most of the talented/impactful players in high demand will be signed. then there are JAGs that everyone starts to pick from.

We already know the 'moves' that will be made. Grab some bargain budget players who have issues in the league or are old and about to fall out of the league and who likely won't make a difference.

Is that coach out there?
Serious question.
A good coach can win here if jerry will take a backseat..
See Parcells era.

Don't know.....hence the last sentence.

I have a feeling the plan is to bring in Payton once Jerry officially takes more of a backseat.

Jerry likes and trusts him and will want to at least claim he was the one to bring Payton in....because I'm fairly certain Jerry is going to need to quit before he gets "that Super Bowl."

There's a shot Quinn is that guy, but I'd call that a backup plan.....the way they see all this that is.

If you don't have faith in these last 3 quarters and this team, why create a thread about this team and its coach? Just to complain? Some of us are sick and tired of you crybabies complaining every day.

Every time that joke is used there's always someone that has to correct it.

That's the funny part to me!

Everyone who knows anything realizes the list of stud pass rushers that become available in August!!

The only needle moving thing left is the draft, and we of course know how those mid round picks make an immediate impact. Just see last year for that.

Mike's assessment that we are "in the first quarter" accurately reflects his game management skills, because its more like four minutes left in the 4th quarter as far as roster building for this season.
