Tony Romo was great on Sunday. Tony Romo threw a costly interception Sunday. Tony Romo choked. All you have heard the last two days was that it was Tony Romo’s fault that the Cowboys lost on Sunday. Was the interception costly? Sure it was. But let’s forget about the interception for a second. The defense gave up 51 points. 51! Let that sink in for a moment. And yet, somehow, the defense has been given a pass by the media. Tony Romo addressed the media after the game and took the blame. But where was Monte Kiffin? Where was DeMarcus Ware? Neither man decided to help shoulder any of the blame.

Which brings me to DeMarcus Ware. The seven time pro bowl player had zero impact on the game that was hanging in the balance all day. We often hear the narrative that Tony Romo isn’t clutch in the fourth quarter, but what about Ware? When is the last time Ware made a big play late a game to help decide a game? It hasn’t been often. Look at this chart compared to some of the best pass rushers in the league:

Im pretty down on Ware at the moment, but just to be your devil's advocate. Ware gets doubled almost every play in the fourth generally.

Ware is injured maybe that has something to do with it.

It's pretty simple. Ware is getting older and is worn down. He played hurt all last year, and is hurt this year. The year before that he had the most pressures of any player in the 4th quarter.

He was playing really well before the stingers reared their ugly heads again and he tweaked his back in SD.

If you compare him to young, elite pass rushers on good teams, you're going to be disappointed.

I'm reluctantly starting to share your thoughts on Ware.

Not this past Sunday, there was no need. They didn't double him once in the 4th quarter, not once. That tells you everything you need to know about his condition at the moment.

Prime example of DeMarcus Ware: The Peyton Manning bootleg TD. A fake up the middle and Ware bites on it. He should never have moved toward the middle even if it were not a fake.
Why? Because a DE is never going to make a tackle at the LOS on a run right behind the center. A DE should contain the outside in every scenario when the offense is at the goalline.
That play should be talked about more...........and how many times is he going to crash inside? I've heard people say that a stunt was called half the time but I never see a DT coming outside. I think its just a move that Ware uses WAY TOO MUCH.

Charles Haley was smacked by a TE and then had to go through his man his entire career and a lot of that was with a bad back. I'm not interested in excuses. We see enough of them around here.

And Ware is already a better player with better stats than Haley (who used to be my favorite Cowboys so I'm certainly not hating). So, what's your point?

Those numbers since 2012 include the second half of last season, when he was playing with a bum shoulder and busted elbow. Now he has a stinger and a strained back muscle.

I think the Cowboys should consider sitting Ware for a week or two just to get his body right.

Thanks someone else that understands contain and how bad ware is struggling with this . I am going to be honest , ware has been one of our worst defenders this season . He is really struggling in this scheme .

I thought my point was pretty clear. I'm not interested in excuses.

Agree. I have been saying since week 1 that Ware is not containing. He runs right past the play far too often.

Well if your looking at stats take a hard look they don't win games all i know is everybody and there brother knew Haley was gonna get a sack and he did even when he needed shots to play.

Well we will have to disagree. I think Ware is twice the player Haley was. And yes, I am old enough to have seen Haley's entire career before anyone pulls that argument. He was my favorite Cowboys his entire tenure with the team.
