TNew says lots of blame to go around

This will not be a popular opinion and I know its ill to speak of the dead but I think that Newman and James did more than just not play well. These two were the leaders on a team that supposedly had no leaders.

I cannot say that Newman is wrong in saying that he wasn't the only one but as BAT mentions: where's the accountability? For himself or for his teammates.

i understand what hes doing at this point is damage control but I cannot help but feel that this is the type of 'leadership' that we hve been getting for the past 3 years. I think the removal of those two will go a long way towards the growth of our defense as a unit.

It was time for Newman to go because he couldn't stay healthy. What's the biggest indictment is they still had to put Newman on the field knowing he couldn't do his job. That goes to the lack of depth which goes directly to player acquisition.

Newman should not have been a starter for the past 3 years... And yes there is more blame to go around on the defense.

Past 2 years*. He made the probowl in 09. He had a great start to last year as well. he just finished so bad that people forget how good he started out .

If you see in the other thread I agree with the OP's sentiments. I want to know though, why start a new thread on the same topic as opposed to simply commenting on the original one? Wouldn't the same posters from that thread see the title of this one and come offer their same opinions, thus maintaining the same argument in two separate threads? I'm new here so maybe I don't know something, so I'm just asking.

Enlighten me...

Didn't realize they'd eventually become one thread...I've been enlightened:lmao2:

I agree a bit with Newman in that he wasn't the only reason we collapsed the way we did.

Ryan blitzed way too much and left our suspect secondary exposed too much.

Garrett made some really boneheaded decisions as well.

But Newman was one of the biggest problems we had last year.

Actually I think his comments are more directed at Romo & Garrett. If I understand it correctly - Brady can win with little support around him and Belicheck can win with almost anything.

My response would be - Tom Brady and Bill Belichick are pretty rare.

...I guess you can't win for calling it like was. It definitely wasn't his fault we let the Giants slip by us.

So glad to see this guy go, I've honestly never liked him or thought very highly of him as a player.

Timeout. That's not fair.

How do you figure? It's all a matter of opinion, I just simply don't think he was ever a good fit here, especially not in the 3-4 where he was exposed time after time.

We had to blitz because outside of Ware all of our passrushers are terds. Especially Spencer.

At least Rob went down swinging.

At least he's not throwing people under the bus and as glad as I am to see that we've parted ways with him, he's right, there is plenty of blame to go around.

No I didn't want him to take sole credit as it wasn't even close to all on him. I don't think he needed to bring up the others being bad too though since nobody was saying it was all him in the first place. And he really didn't need to bring up the pats being in the SB with a poor D because that sounds like he was trying to say the offense didn't do enough.

My thoughts exactly.... no one on this board has said it was all Newmans fault. That is my main problem with him (other than his play ), he ponts at others be it a busted coverage or criticism for a bad season. He feels the need to make sure others(his teamates) go down with him.

He didn't name names, but he did throw the team under the bus

Long term quality starters on the Cowboys are not rubbish.

I know we all want to hate him for not meeting some of our expectations, but I have a hard time finding anything objectionable here.
Spot on...

My issue with Newman, as well as the team at times, is that he didn't have much fight in him. If he had a few bad plays, he just seemed to quit and not get angry and punch back. I think his attitude was for the most part the same attitude of the entire defense. Like RW31 before him, Newman seemed to lose interest in playing football. I wish him well in his future career, though after being embrassed in the last Giants game, I doubt he will be getting any offers to play football in 2012.
